    1. [GEORGIA] 1832 Georgia Land Lottery Question
    2. michelle ganus taggart
    3. My ancestor drew in the 1832 Land Lottery and it says he drew land in Cherokee County, yet the land was in the Twenty-eight District of the Third Section--it says following that "in the County of Cherokee". Looking at the map of the land and how it was split in 1832, it appears that by the lot and district, it was actually in Murray County. I realize that initially it was all called Cherokee, but he didn't actually sign for the land until 1843--but still, even that paper says Cherokee County----so therefore it confuses me as to where the land actually was. If the land of Cherokee was split into the counties of Cass, Floyd, Murray etc. in 1832, then why doesn't it specify the correct county in 1843 instead of saying Cherokee? And, if I were trying to find who he might have sold the land to, where would I look for a deed (he never lived on it) (Sorry---I am sure this is clear as mud, but I would sure appreciate someone's thoughts) Michelle
