WHITE, SOLOMON CLIFFORD (CLIFF), Funeral services for Mr. White, 86, of Auburn, will be 11:00 a.m., November 25, 2006, at Auburn United Methodist Church Founders Chapel with Reverends Nick Holler and Bobby Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Auburn Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Founders Chapel. Mr. White was born June 26, 1920, in Thomas County, GA to the late Solomon C. White, Sr. and Irene Kennedy White. He passed away on November 21, 2006. His loving wife and best friend, Virginia Carroll White, preceded Mr. White in death. Mr. White proudly served his country as First Lieutenant in the US Army from 1941-1953. He was a tank commander under General George Patton during the European Campaign. Before being deployed to Europe he was a training instructor at Camp Wheeler, Georgia. He retired from McCain Uniform Company, Birmingham, in 1984. Mr. White's family will remember him as a loving father who enjoyed being with his family and friends. He is survived by daughters, Amanda (Gene) Strickland of Madison, Anne (Jim) Summers of Birmingham and Nancy (Bobby) Flurry of Auburn; grandchildren, Bobby (Crystal) Strickland of Killen, Rebecca (Jonathan) Young of Madison, Suzan (John) Brandt and Jimmy (Melissa) Summers of Birmingham, Ray (Jill) Porterfield of Opelika and Jennifer Hicks (Michael) of Dallas, Texas, Stephen and David Flurry of Auburn; great grandchildren, Emily and Hannah Strickland, Blake and Rachel Young, Virginia Kate and Jack Brandt, Mike and Matt Hicks, Paige, Peyton and Tyler Porterfield. The family would like to thank Dr. Keith Fuller; Southern Care Hospice, especially Florence Harper and Kathryn Milner; caregivers, Delmonica Wise, Kathleen Holston, Tina Dumas and Pat Carter; Opelika Care Center and the staff of Section IV; and Lee-Russell Council on Aging. The family gives special thanks to Auburn United Methodist Church, Dr. George Mathison and Reverend Nick Holler. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Auburn United Methodist Church, P.O.
