The first few pages of Bulloch Co. Deed Book AAA are crumbled and missing, but the index says Alexander Lane to heirs of John Lane, indicating that Alexander Lane had died and that the heirs of John received a settlement in 1814, Deed Book AAA, 1814-1818, page 150. This sounds like it was either John's father or John's brother dying in 1814 and their estate paying John's heirs. How can we know who has died here? Looking at some of the recorded papers in Bulloch County we find that ALEXANDER LANE gave a slave to Caty Lane, who is assumed to have been his daughter. Was she indeed his daughter. Looking for help here on the Lane family who moved from Duplin County, NC to Bulloch County, Georgia. Any help appreciated. Emma
