    3. I know - and any time there was the slightest hint that alcohol was involved in someone's death, it seems to me that the local newspaper made it a point to bring it to the public's attention - no matter how good and hard-working the family. I was just saying I think it's a shame that the fact that he was returning from a place where one could purchase liquor had to be aired in public when he was killed by a runaway horse. How horrible for his family that he died so tragically - how horrible also that they had to be publicly humiliated in the local news. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynn Cunningham" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, November 13, 2006 9:30 PM Subject: Re: [GEORGIA] Jesse Vaughn July 1891 - Telfair Co. > A "blind tiger" was a place where alcoholic beverages are sold illegally; a > speakeasy. > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Linda Murray" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Monday, November 13, 2006 7:40 PM > Subject: Re: [GEORGIA] Jesse Vaughn July 1891 - Telfair Co. > > > > Emma, > > > > The 1880 census for Telfair County (which you can view for free online) > > shows that Jesse was the apparent son of James and Mary Vaughn.
