Searching for a John S. Stephens, b. 1806. Said to be born in what is now Dooly Co. Married Rutha Jane Halliday(sp), dau of Thomas and Mary Halliday. Lived in Houston, Randolph, Stewart Cos. before moving to Dale Co.,Ala. He said his parents were born in N.C. Harold Stephens
In 1806, the origional Dooly & Houston counties would have been Indian territory. In 1821 the treaty was signed and the land was settled legally. Harold Stephens wrote: >Searching for a John S.
