Lt. Col. Elijah Clark with the rebel army had about 300 to 400 partisans during this time and they were occupying Augusta. This was in 1780. He was a very well known Georgian. I think that is the reason he is mentioned in this book as the two Quaker settlements were in Richmond County as is Augusta. The book does not give pertinent information about his lineage, etc. and I don't think that he was Quaker. However, I could be wrong about this.
