    3. The Fish Ponds (Thlotlogalgua, or Laloakalka) was so far as I can recall, the only Creek talwa that was almost universally referred to by English speaking people by its name translated into English rather than in Muskogean. Talwa was the word for a town, but it had dimensions broader than the meaning of the word town in English. I am not a Muskogee speaker and am unable to translate Sappeloke. In Muskogee loke means "eater" or "devourer" but I can't get a fix on Sappe from a dictionary. There is no standard spelling and sounds are represented very differently by various writers. My best guess would be that Sappeloke was either a place name associated with these Parkers and that they were of Creek ancestry, or that it was the name of a Creek ancestor. I suggest getting in touch with "Sappeloke1832" (See: : http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/PARKER/2003-07/1058560227 ) It just happens that 1832 was the year of most of the Creek census made before removal, so you might find something by looking for Sappeloke and Parker on it... There is a Fish Pond PO in Tallapoosa County, AL, and a Fish Pond Town in Coosa County, AL SOURCE: W. Craig Remington & Thomas J. Kallsen, Editors, HISTORICAL ATLAS OF ALABAMA Volume 1, Historical Locations by County. (Tuscaloosa, AL, University of Alabama, Department of Geography, 1997). Tallapoosa and Coosa Counties were created in Alabama within the Upper Creek Indians Territory ceded by Treaty of Washington April 4, 1832. My photocopy was made on a visit to the Alabama Department of Archives and History, Montgomery, AL. A photo of the actual Melish map is found at the Historical Map Archive online at http://alabamamaps.ua.edu/historicalmaps/ I hope this will help in your research ....
