Last year, when my grandson was in GA history class in Savannah, Ga, his teacher assigned each class member a name that could be found on the Savannah Census in 1850. The asignment was to learn all they could about that person and share it with their class. I'm sure they covered Civil War, but I'm even more pleased they covered how to research PERSONAL history. One thing I've tried to do is put together a book on OUR family members who fought in the Civil War, and the battles they fought in. My Grandsons loved my "Book" and are now interested in genealogy.
