That's the way I do the marriage licenses in Pike Co. > Stephanie Bradley Stephanie, Until recently I was able to get photo copies of death certificates in several nearby counties, but when I went to do some lookups last month I was told that death certificates had been ordered closed. The clerk did pull them for me and allowed me to write down the information. I was able to get the name of parents for two relatives that I was having problems with. Big disagreement as to which John Doe was the son of Sam Doe. We now have the right child with the right father. What made it even more confusing was that both fathers had married women with the same name, first and last. With all the problems with Identity thieves, many of the states are now closing records that we need for genealogy. I cannot afford to buy certified copies of each death certificate, that would quickly get into the hundreds of dollars. It looks like researchers should be able to get access to these records without paying such high prices. Doris
