    3. 01JAN2008 BILL; GREETINGS AGAIN; Which *BROWN* Line do you come from??? We are looking for a-*JOHN ERWIN BROWN-(b.VA or NC-circa-1760)-and ELIZABETH [???]-BROWN* ---son of *JOHN BROWN-(b.circa-1740)-and ELIZABETH (ERWIN)-BROWN*--[Nothing is known]!!! Most researchers believe the Extended families migrated down the *Great PHILY Wagon Road from the-AUGUSTA/AMHERST areas of Western VIRGINA* to the "ROWAN/ MECKLINBURG/ CHARLOTTE, NC" areas-(circa-1760)!!! About the time of the REV.WAR they migrated on over into eastern GEORGIA-[AUGUSTA/ WILKES areas]!! We have seen "BROWN/ HINTON & MONTGOMERY" families there as early as-(1775), but unknown if it is these families???? The last we know is that they were in the *ROWAN/ MECKLINBURG, NC areas about (mid- 1760's)*???? As before there appears to be--"Two Distinct-BROWN-lines"; that went from "NC" to "GA"!!! (1)- Most Researchers believe came down the "GREAT PHILY WAGON ROAD" from western VIRGINIA-[AUGUSTA/ AMHERST areas], to the ROWAN/ MECKLINBURG, NC areas! (2)- The other-[Unknown-BROWN- group] - were in the "ALBERMARLE DISTRICT/ CHOWAN/ GATES, [coastal] NORTH CAROLINA" areas- (about- 1715) - with our'-"HINTON/ MONTGOMERY-- HARDY/ HARGROVE/ LANE/ SMITH and Robertson's", prior to migrating-(about-1760) - on over to the "JOCO/ WAKE/ RALIEGH, NORTH CAROLINA" areas, to points west, and then on to "GEORGIA"??? Any Intel is greatly appreciated. THANKS & GOD BLESS A HAPPY & BLESSED NEW YEAR SEMPER FI BA- In North GA!! Hi to you, A.J. Many thanks to you for your reply and your interesting information. I guess I'll need some time to digest it. >From your message, I gather you're a U.S. Marine. Congrats for that and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO US ALL. I'm an old Army grunt, but I have a lot of Marine buddies and give all Marines ( and all who have served honorably) my utmost respect and thanks. If I am allowed, even as an old Army ground-pounder, "Semper Fi," my friend, and a long healthy life to you. Bill Brown Richardson, Texas "Ayers, B. The *WM LEWIS & TEMPERANCE HINTON* rings a bell, but will have to check. What we have pieced together thus far----[we are kinda NEW at this]----, it appear that we had two distinct lines of *BROWN*! One BROWN-Line Migrated with our' HINTONS- from "JAMESTOWNE, VA" to "CHOWAN/ GATES, NC,-(circa-1700-1715), "JOCO/ WAKE/ RALIEGH, NC"-(circa- 1760), "Unknown Counties, GEORGIA"-(circa- post REV.WAR-1800<<<)-, and then again to the "TUSCALOOSA, AL.areas"-(by-1820)!!! The Other BROWN-line migrated from the "PHILY/ LANCASTER, PA" areas to the---- "ROWAN/ SALSBURY" and MECKLINBURG/ CHARLOTTE,[WAXHAWS], NC" areas- (circa-1760-1770), to "UNKNOWN Counties, GEORGIA"- ( post REV.WAR-1800), and again to "ALABAMA"!!! The one BROWN Line that we have looked at strongly [appears to have ties to both lines]- is *JOHN ERWIN BROWN-(b.NC-circa-1760-1770)*-[wife was 'ELIZABETH???]- of '"ROWAN/ MECKLINBURG, NC"-----(1)- MARY POLLY-(2)- JOHN ERWIN-[jr]- (Both born-GA- about-1800)!!! Parents were *JOHN & ELIZABETH( ERWIN)- BROWN-(b.PA , VA, or NC)-[ her father was JOHN ERWIN]. The above *MARY POLLY (BROWN)* married-[in Unknown county, GA] our'--- *CHARLES MONTGOMERY-(b.GA-circa- 1795-1870)*! The sister of CHARLES MONTGOMERY- *ESTER MONTGOMERY-(b.GA-circa-1797-1870)*- -[Parents are Unknown]-married our' *REV. JOHN HINTON-(b.JOCO,NC-circa-1790-1843)*!! If memory serves- our' "REV. JOHN HINTON" would be a Cousin/Nephew of your'- *JOSEPH & MARTHA PATTY--(BROWN)--HINTON*??? Do you know of a- *SIMON BROWN-(b.NC-circa-1750??)*----CIVIL WAR- "JOCO, NC-53rd-INF"-[an- LARKIN BROWN]- With our "HINTONS" ??? Do you know of a- *GEORGE & JACOB -BROWN--(b-circa-1730-40)* ---REV.WAR-"ROWAN,NC-MILITIA"- under *CAPT. MONTGOMERY*!!! Most of the Intel that we have, we have Gleaned from- "Websites, and Postings", there-by the Sources are Questionable!!!!! One good website we have used is "HINTON's OF KNIGHTSDALE, NC"-[Google it]!! Subject: Hinton-Brown marriage in my NC line Hi, Mr. Ayers, I have run across a number of your messages online in which you're searching for HINTON ancestors, and you include BROWN. As common as the Brown name is, I wonder if we have a connection. My 3-G grandparents were Andrew Brown, Jr. (Dec. 1803-Feb 1882 & Nancy Williams Hinton (1806-1871 or 1887) They married in Jan 1829 in Chatham Co, NC. 4-G Andrew, Sr (about 1764-1819) & Mary McLachlan 5-G Archibald (about 1720 (Scotland) -1795 (Chatham Co, NC) & Agnes (possibly) Drake-born Scotland -died Chatham Co) Nancy Hinton: 4-G--William Lewis Hinton (about 1780-1832) & Temperance Williams (1795-1853) 5-G--Joseph Hinton (about 1751-1804) & Martha "Patty" _____. What do you think? Thanks a lot. Bill Brown Richardson, Texas
