    1. [GEORGIA] John Kelly Atlanta @1850-60
    2. Hello Georgia, My family's oral history claimed that my gggrandparents (John and Rachel/Rachael Kelly) had a cotton farm outside of Atlanta...I finally found Rachel/Rachael (a widow) in the 1860 census living in Atlanta City, Ward no. 5...but John remains a mystery. I am new to Georgia research and would appreciate any advice about how to find out more about him. Since Rachel/Rachael is recorded as a widow with a one-year old child in the 1860, I think that John must have died @ 1859. Is there an archive in Georgia that will look for his death certificate? Does anyone know the area that Atlanta City Ward no. 5 would have encompassed in 1860? John was from Ireland...would New Orleans have been the most likely port to look for him on a passenger list? I am very appreciative of ANY advice you can give me about researching him in Georgia. thank you, Joy
