    3. I've recently learned that my ancestor Joseph Jones who migrated to Wilkinson County, Georgia about the time of the Georgia 1805 Land Lottery had a Maryland connection. In fact, it appears that several of the early families who were in Wilkinson County by the 1820 first census may have had roots back to Maryland as well. Does anyone know of any particular reason for this migration or was it just the lure of the new land? Thanks. W. Chris Jones

    3. looking for the parents of: FRANCIS M HOWARD born about 1846 in Jackson Cty MS father born in GA Francis served in the Confederate Civil War For an unknown reason came to Ohio and joined the Union Civil War Infantry 181 OH Inf Co-D Was he a POW? Did he Desert? He died in Ohio 1869 Would LOVE to find my Southern Heritage.     3. Hi Sandra, I am a Howard from south GA, my Howard family came from VA, NC, to GA, etc. My grandfather was Simon Peter Howard b. 1834. He had many children, one son whose name was Marion Francis Howard...a lot of the people who knew him best back in those days, referred to him as "Old man M.F." I was very young, but I remember him.
