The only thing I know of his southern life is: his name Francis M Howard his about DOB 1846 his father born in GA he joined the confederate c w army Family tale states: his family disowned hime for joining the union c w army his family was thought to be "well to do" he swam the mississippi river with a child on his back to save her.
