    3. My grandfather was there for 7 years and there was only one little card for him. After 75 years, it is realeased to the public, before then you need the court order, which was very simple to get. But, a lot of the information was destroyed on patients and thus the small amount of information that we both got. I contacted the hospital and they sent me the little info they had-- essentially 2 index cards with very basic information such as name, date entered, date of death, home county and a brief diagnosis. They told me that it was all the information there is about her (kind of sad considering it covered over 30 years of her life). However, after reading your message, should I consider the possibility that there might be additional information at the Georgia archives? Another question someone might know the answer to: when someone was committed, did it require any legal action in their home county, perhaps by their personal physician or a family member? I'm wondering if there may be more information in the county records of her home county? Thanks for any help. I have used these records and some of them are very interesting and have good family information. Others are sketchy. For records after 1924, a court order is required, and they have to be accessed at or through the hospital itself.
