Hey! Thanks for the help! I really appreciate your time. I have been searching for a long time, abt 20 years, and have come to a semi-brick wall on all of my lines. I'm back to the early 1800's and as you may know records of that period for slaves are pretty hard to find. My lines are Griffin, McCullers, Williams, Chandler, Mars, and Ellison. All lived in Burke and Screven county GA. I've stopped 477 spam messages. You can too! Griffin Subject: Nicknames Howard, It wasn't uncommon for families and even whole communities to use 'pet' or 'nicknames.' In the 1860-1880 time frame, my great great grandfather in Butts County, Ga., had seven of eleven children that used nicknames such as Mack, Tug, Molly, Honey, Peter, Dolley, and Bud. None of the previous names resemble any of their real given names.
