Regarding the subject of "names", my gr grandfather, Wm Samuel Puckett (marr Barber), had a brother named James TILLERO/Tillaro/Tillerow (I've seen all 3 versions) Puckett. That unusual name can also be found in the McCain, King, Davidson & Smith families, all in either GA or East AL. The name sounds either Spanish or French (with a phoenetic spelling) to me. Has anyone ever seen that name or know what it could stand for or where it came from? They, had siblings: Elizabeth (Harris), John A. (Fuller), Joseph Richard (Grubbs), Mary Ann (Smith & Hogan), Lucinda (Dunkin), Geo W. (Fuller), Phillip (died young) & Mittie Ann (who was adopted but still a Puckett & married Hembree). James Tillero Puckett married Eliza Duke. All of these Pucketts were the children of Andrew Jackson Puckett & Frances E. (Roberts) Puckett who lived in Coweta Co. GA & Frances lived later in Cherokee Co. AL. John & James T. moved to Upshur Co. TX. Wm Sam & Jos Richard moved to Columbia Co. AR. Mittie Ann moved to Walker Co. AL & the rest stayed in various counties in GA, centering around Carroll, Haralson & Forsyth Co. ANYONE having info on any of these folks, please let me know.
