    2. Walter F. Williams
    3. William Paget was born October 28, 1782 in South Carolina, probably in Colleton County. It must be noted however that other groups of Paget families are to be found in South Carolina during this period. The 1790 census of South Carolina shows at least ten families of Paget's (any spelling) with a boy of the right age group to be William. These families were residing in Charleston District, St. Bartholomes Parish, and St. Phillips and St. Michaels Parishes, Camden District, Chester County, 96th District, Edgefield County, Edgefield County, Cheraw District, Newberry County, Ninety-Six District, Orangeburg (North Part); and included the following names, William, Joseph, Thomas, Job, Josiah, John, Samuel, Moses and Benjamin. William Padgett and his wife Elizabeth were married March 17, 1803. Children were James, Anna, Levina, William, Wiley, Ira, Martha, Henry, Elijah and Elizabeth. William and Elizabeth with most of their family removed from South Carolina to Alabama as a group sometime between 1828 and mid-1830. William and his family residing in Covington County and probably making their way as farmers. William was commissioned a Lieutenant in the 46th Regiment from Covington and Dale Counties, of the 11th Brigade, and 4th Division of the Alabama militia. William died January 3, 1843 in the Conekah River Community of Covington County, Alabama Any assistance with primary or secondary documentation of these lines and their extension greatly appreciated. Always happy to swap files. Walt
