    3. Thanks so much for sharing your interesting website with us. I enjoyed the tour of 'Beautiful Old Homes' in COLUMBUS, GA. and in particular, seeing the home of famous author, CARSON SMITH McCULLER and the informative historic plaque by the home. Carson is a descendent of HENRY HYER SMITH [b. 1807 in VT; died in Union Springs, AL in 1885], "one of the most prominent pioneers of UNION SPRINGS, AL". Henry's grandson, LAMAR SMITH, SR, [1890-1944; married to Vera Marguerite Waters], was Carson's father. I would like to correspond with anyone interested in this SMITH family line. "The bungalow-style house built in the early 1920s was purchased by Lamar Smith, in 1926 when McCullers -- then Lula Carson Smith -- was just 9 years old. The home and the neighborhood became fodder for McCullers' stories and novels, which brought her worldwide recognition." "The house is now Columbus State University's Carson McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians."
