    3. Louis is deceased - Nov 2007 However, I am the surviving spouse and will continue to do some work on his genealogy. However, I am in middle of down size move. If you will remind me in about a month, I will get Louis" Cox data to you and see if we have a fit. I also have Cox in my line so we can check that out at same time Wanda -----Original Message----- From: georgia-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:georgia-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of jjc Sent: Saturday, April 05, 2008 11:43 AM To: LOUIS CARLTON; georgia@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [GEORGIA] now listing the "C's" Louis, my maiden name is Cox, and they also lived in Rome, Floyd Co., GA., 1840 - 1870. 3. Hello Janet, My great grand mother is Sarah Catherine Cox b abt 1829 NC. She first married William Abner Kilabrew and then William Raeford Taylor. I have three possible siblings for her--Perry, Elizabeth, and Samuel. If any of these look interesting I'm eager to work with you. My records for this family come from the book Heritage of Houston County Georgia 1821-2001 not from original records research. 3. MY DEAR MISS. DIANE; THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! As an old Warhorse our self, we Love American History, Especially anything about *WAR*!!! As below one of our ancestors was an *ENSIGN* WHO SURVIVED the WAR!!! Again Thanks BA -----Original Message----- From: georgia-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:georgia-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Diane S Sent: Wednesday, April 02, 2008 6:26 AM To: georgia@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [GEORGIA] ---"ENSIGN" in the ARMY--- Lt. General in U.S. Navy? BJ - Funny you ask that... not long ago I was reading in the local paper where the British museum was lending several Continental Line battle flags that were captured during the war. One even has the blood stains of the 'ensign' who carried the colors into battle. This is what I understood that the rank 'Ensign' was reserved for the brave young man who carried the colors - on either foot or horse... but he was a 'target' for the 'other' side since it was a great honor to capture the flags of an opposing unit. I had not idea that was what it meant... and that not many ensigns survived the war... nor did many of the U.S. battle flags... and those that did are in horrible condition... however these three, I think there were three, were in almost perfect condition and had been stored in London all these years... stored correctly and conserved... thus their shape. So, not only did I get to see some photos of those lovely old flags, I learned what duty was assigned to an Ensign! I would think there was more than one with each unit since the soldiers who had the honor of bearing the flag, was often the first casualty. I am not sure if they are still at Williamsburg, but this was not too long ago that I read the article. Diane S ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ayers, B.
