I guess I should have made myself more clear and Im sorry for that!!! I do have a local Georgia SCV camp involved with this, which means there will be reenactors there, but as of yet I have no idea what they are doing and what other people have done with theirs that DIDNT involve the reenactors. For instance, I plan on writing a speech, having a pastor speak and making a program, so the information/ideas I was looking for dont involve the SCV, its "other" stuff that can be done that I'm looking for Sorry for any confusion as to what I was wanting :) On 4/28/08, Kith-n-Kin <Kith-n-Kin@cox.net> wrote: > > Shannon > > I have not done this either, but you might consider finding out if there's > a > "sons of..." or "daughters of..." in the county. Who was your ancestor? Where did he live in after the war? Did he apply for a Confederate pension? I would be interested in learning what you did. A friend did it and he got some reinactors that played the drums, banjo and flute (I think) and it was so meaningful. The reinactors wouldn't accept pay, but they did take a donation to their reinactor group. Hi Lists: Once again I am trying to find information on my David Johns(t)on b. 1788 in Georgia (according to his will in Wilkinson County) d. 1852 in Plaquemines Parish, LA. David was a riverboat pilot in Plaquemines Parish, LA. He married Hanna Hoffman in 1840 in Louisiana. Given the age of David at this marriage with Hanna, I am guessing that he was married before. David & Hanna had one son Alexander Henry (A.H.) Johns(t)on in 1841. David's will in 1852 indicated that he had siblings (brothers & sisters) but they were all gone by the time of his death. David's will further indicates that he was born in Wilkinson County in 1788, but I know it was Indian Territory, so not too sure about whether he was or wasn't born there. His will ONLY lists his son Alexander & wife, Hanna. No mention of any other children nor spouses. Any help, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The Polk County, GA AHGP Web Site has been updated. Be sure to check out the Obits page and Brickwall page. An abstract of The Euharlee Primitive Baptist Association Minutes from 1886-1997 has been added under "Churches in Polk County". There are a few missing years, but enough years to make a good resource for placing family in the area for certain years. Plus a number of deaths recorded in the minutes, most with dates. The "association" covered more than just Polk County. Many of the NW Georgia Counties and NE Alabama Counties are mentioned in the minutes. The web site is located at http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ga/county/polk/ Doris Robbins
Moreland South View Cemetery Moreland, Coweta Co., Georgia Plot 2-106 Ida Hodnett 8 Aug 1884 - 7 Jul 1937 Janie Taylor Hodnett, wife of W. C. Hodnett 3 Jan 1859 - 26 Dec 1923 Senoia City Cemetery Senoia, Coweta Co., Georgia Lot # 21 is owned by George Hodnett, but there are no named burials The death cert for Alonzo George Hodnett states he was buried at Senoia Cemetery, so I would figure he is one of the unnamed burials in the lot. The death cert for George P. Hodnett states he was also buried in Senoia, Georgia, but it does not specifically say Senoia Cemetery like his son's does. Carl Bowman Hodnett's death cert states he was buried in Ocilla, Georgia. There is an Ocilla City Cemetery. Good Luck! Valerie (Johnson) Freeman Tustin, California "She is insane, of course.
