    1. [GEORGIA] McDADE-DNA Project
    2. Janice R Freeman
    3. From: Janice R Freeman mcdade-dna@juno.com To: ALL McDADE Descendants Announcing: McDADE-DNA Project Visit: the Sept McDade Clan Davidson home page at mcdade.bravepages.com and go to the: McDade Surname DNA Project page under Table of Contents If you have questions, contact me at McDADE-DNA@juno.com You can read more about DNA Testing through the Links at mcdade.bravepages.com or FamilyTreeDNA.com. We are inviting Y O U to participate in our McDADE-DNA Project which we are expecting to be a valuable asset to our paper trail research to show how our various McDADE lines throughout the world may be connected thru : 1. your direct participation if you are a direct line McDADE male descendant (direct male in your McDADE line all the way back to your earliest known McDADE ancestor, including yourself) by participating in the DNA testing. OR 2. your indirect participation (because you are or became a male descendant of a McDADE daughter at some point in your McDADE line OR are a McDADE daughter) by finding the fathers, brothers, uncles, nephews, cousins that are direct line male McDADE descendants in your family and urging them to participate under 1. above. First, if it is at all possible, please participate in the 25 marker test as this gives us a much better analysis of the known, possible, or potential relationships. Each and every participant is an important link in connecting our various lines whether our ancestor was an early arrival in the 1600's or 1700's or a later arrival in the 1800's or 1900's in Australia, Canada, England, New Zealand, USA, etc. Our ancestors may have come directly from Scotland or via Ireland, but with McDADE as the primary spelling, we are probably all cousins in one way or another. You may contact me at any time if you have questions. There is no medical connection with any of this, just a check on the male DNA markers that are passed father to son almost intact for many generations, with an occasional mutation. It is especially important to have a male participate (regardless of age) if the male is the only or one of two male McDADE descendants of a father, grandfather or great grandfather. Unfoutunately, the daughters can not do this for this particular easy, efficient, and economical test. I hope you will participate in the launching of this great project for our McDADE's everywhere. Please inform others you feel should be contacted or send me names, e-mail addresses, and or snail addresses and phone numbers for other McDADE kin. I can't wait to see how our markers reveal our potential relationships, especially if many of you will select the 25 plus marker DNA test. 1. [GEORGIA] Correction to Butler info/Elbert County
    2. Sorry folks, I misled you in the info about John Butler's estate. I stated his daughter was the executrix of the estate when in actuality it was his wife, Martha, who was the executrix. The deed conveying the land John Butler won in the 1827 lottery was filed in Meriwether County. The land was in the 9th District, LL 269, 202 1/2 acres, in originally Troup County, later Meriwether County. The deal was made (date of instrument) 7 Jan 1834 and recorded and filed 25 Sept 1834 (Meriwether County Deed Book C, page 377). My GGGG grandfather, Robert Boyd, bought the entire land lot for only $250. That's about $1.24 per acre. What a deal! Judy

    1. [GEORGIA] Tuckers of Alabama & Georgia
    2. Charlotte
    3. Hello George, I do believe we have talked before. The two Tucker lines I have researched do not descend from Ole'Dan Tucker of Elbert Co GA. One is George Tucker, Sr., Patriot of the Rev War and his wife Rebecca Leverett Tucker, d/o William and Bridget Leverett of Wilkes Co GA in 1790s. George Tucker, Sr. was b 1745 in Amelia Co VA, spent quite a few years in Wilkes Co Georgia, moving on to Alabama and dying in Alabama in 1853! George Tucker while in Wilkes Co GA served as Lt. in a "horse company to guard the frontier as rangers... Governor Habersham ordered this company raised abt 1774/75" The quote is from George Tucker's Rev War pension papers. [1] The second line is Andrew P. Tucker and his wife Sally/Sarah Hart. Andy, bca1825 d1876 in Jefferson Co AL, possible son of William Tucker and his first wife, Rebecca Butler Tucker. This William Tucker died in Greenville Co SC in 1850s. Andy's wife was Sally/Sarah Hart of North Carolina. [2] Thanks for contacting me and giving me an opportunity to "talk" about these Tucker lines. I am willing to exchange information. My main focus, however, is with the Leveretts of Wilkes County, Georgia : ) Charlotte [1] Pension Papers 5.979 Alabama County. Martha Tucker, Widow of George Tucker who served in the Revolutionary War as Priv. & Lieut. Inscribed on the roll at the rate of 46 dollars 66 cents per annum to commence on the 23rd February 1853. Certificate of Pension issued 27 day of November 1856 and sent to John D. Terrell, Pikeville, AL. Recorded on Roll of Pensioners under act February 3, 1853, page 157 9?) Volume 26. The State of Alabama Fayette County County Court in Vacation December 3, 1833. 1. Re: [GEORGIA] Babcock, Georgia & Shellman, Georgia
    2. Don't know anything about Babcock, but Shellman is in South Georgia, Randolph County, not far from Eufaula, Alabama. My grandfather (John McWhorter) taught school there in the early 1900s. He was only there briefly, and moved back closer to home (Atlanta area, Carroll County, Coweta County) in July 1910. My aunt was born there in 1908. Judy

This is arranged alphabetically by towns...and she has completed through Ps. The information lists names of the physicians, the year and place of their training as well as the population of the town. I think you'll find this interesting. Virginia Crilley

    1. Re: [GEORGIA] MS Archives Closing/Moving Schedule Information
    2. Charlotte, So far there is no telephone listing for the new building, but the phone number will probably remain the same. (601) 359-6876, so you could call that number and find out the new address. It is across a side street from the Capers Building, so it is in the same area and easy to locate. I am sure the new address will be posted on the Archive's website soon: http://www.mdah.state.ms.us/ The Charlotte Capers Building, housing the Archives and Library search room and MDAH administration, will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, to begin the move to the new William F. Winter Archives and History Building. The reading rooms will open for research in the new building on Monday, October 27. Due to the move, some library materials are already unavailable. Before traveling to the Archives, library patrons may wish to call to confirm the availability of specific records. The reference desk may be reached at (601) 359-6876. Best regards, Dorothy
