Joey Did the death certificate name his parents? You can usually write to the genealogy dept of the town library as some have copies of obits and make your request. You can look up the libraries phone # online and call to find out and also ask of the cost. God's blessings in your search Claudia

Last year, when my grandson was in GA history class in Savannah, Ga, his teacher assigned each class member a name that could be found on the Savannah Census in 1850. The asignment was to learn all they could about that person and share it with their class. I'm sure they covered Civil War, but I'm even more pleased they covered how to research PERSONAL history. One thing I've tried to do is put together a book on OUR family members who fought in the Civil War, and the battles they fought in. My Grandsons loved my "Book" and are now interested in genealogy. I certainly should've added an extra column for time frame. I don't know why I didn't... You may want to email the individual(s) associated with the surnames of interest to get that information for the time being. Guess I am one of those who did not know who JAMES EWELL BROWN STUART was. I had heard of Jeb Stuart, but had thought that Jeb was his name or nickname. Guess I need to go back and study my history. <vbg> These mailing lists are very informative, not just genealogy, but history and much more. No. Are you sure your ancestor didn't have one of these as his middle name? I have found ancestors who had middle names who either never used their first name or who appear in some records with the first and middle names switched. If either of these is the case, it can be even more confusing when both the first name and the middle name start with the same letter. I know this because it's the case with one of my ancestors. My Great-Grandfather, Hardy P. Hughes, born in SC, September 28, 1851, SC, died July 3, 1891, Milledgeville, GA Married Laura S. Simons, born in SC, April 20, 1873 in Columbus, Muscogee County, GA Oldest daughter, Lavenia Delia Hughes, born in SC, January 28, 1874 told her children that when she was age three, they moved to Columbia, SC (this would have put them there in 1877 or thereabouts).
