My grandmother's people were Castleberrys..... Her mother was Emma Lula Castleberry, married to Joseph Powell. My grandmother was Emma Alma Powell. She was raised by her mother's second husband, no first name Hoskins........ I have more files on the Castleberry people in my line. I'll take a look at them and get back to you if they match. HOWARD, or his son, Nicolas. > The HOWARDs later moved on to > Columbus, Muscogee County, where > they became prominent developers, > builders. There is a Howard Avenue in Columbus, Georgia , Muscogee County. It's located in the Jordan /Johnson area. Jordan High School and Johnson Elementary School. Most of the time Streets are named after people who have given to the Community. Bradley Library, Bradley Drive in Columbus, Georgia should be able to give you plenty of information on the Howards, if you are related to these Howards. There used to be a Howard's Bus Line, but I am not sure of the owners of the Bus Station. If you haven't already , you might want to join the Georgia and the Gamuscogee County List. There are people on these list who have relatives in Columbus or have lived here. I will forward your email asking about the Howards. Maybe someone can pick up where I left off. Sandra Georgia

The Record was published in Cedartown, GA by S. D. Wilke & CO. A volunteer has been transcribing some of the articles from the paper. They can be found on the Polk County, GA AHGP web site at http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ga/county/polk/ Click on Newspaper Articles from the index page. While there check out the History of Polk County that Edna Stephens transcribe from the 1919 newspaper. Here are a couple of interesting articles from the Record. Mr. J. E. Good, of the firm J. P. Hood & CO, of Cartersville, paid our town a visit this week. Mr. G has been a citizen of this place, and while here made many warm friends. We don't know, but are of the opinion that he has a particular lady friend in this section, that brings him down this way. Our wide-awake Sheriff, Mr. Clements, has succeeded in re-capturing Ned Larkins and Nathan Stone, two of the prisoners who broke jail last week. They were captured at Stonewall, by a Mr. Swords, and retained until Mr. Clements arrived. New Jail - Mr. John C Allen, contractor, has commenced preparations for the new jail. The brick are being made near colored Methodist church, by Mr. E M Joonson (sic), Rome, who has the contract from Mr. Allen for the brick work. Lumber is being hauled and placed upon the site to be used for the wood work. The building will be 200 feet north east of the court house. It is to be 46x36, two stories. The first story to be divided into four rooms, as a residence for the jailor. The upper floor into two, and to have three cells in each, three of which are to be iron and three wooden. We would have been glad if higher ground could have been procured, but we venture the assertion that Mr. Allen will do a good job, and that it will be an ornament to the town, notwithstanding the disadvantage of ground. Many more on the web site. Hope you find a relative listed. Doris Robbins Polk County, GA Host for AHGP
