Well, there is news. I had begun to question if John LAWRENCE Jones was correct as all the existing Georgia Records for him are signed John L. Jones. But I now believe that he is the John Lawrence Jones who died in Wilkinson County, GA in 1829. The 1797 Wilkes County North Carolina List of Taxables established certainty that (John) Lawrence Jones of Wilkes County was at least 21 years of age to be taxed and was probably the John Lawrence Jones identified as born December 8, 1776 in the Rigsby book Historic Georgia Familes. Lawrence Jones is listed with 1 pole indicating he at least 21 years of age and born about 1776, the same year mentioned in the DAR publication (below) identifying him as the son of John L. Jones of Wilkes County in 1786 Colonial Census. Note that on the document, Lawrence is literally next to John L. (Litton) Jones. However I have not been able to document his birth (stated as 12/8/1776) and his marriage to Lucy Taliaferro (stated as 1790 in Surry County, NC). The only other "new" thing we've found that is circumstantial now is possible proof that John Litton Jones of Surry/Wilkes County, NC knew the Harden family in Georgia when he witnessed the deed of William Harden, of Franklin County, Georgia in 1795 in Wilkes County, NC. William Harden was the brother of Mary Harden, the wife of John Taliaferro, and he was one of the purchasers at the Estate Sale of Dr. John Taliaferro, conducted by John L. (Lawrence) Jones in Nov. 6, 1821 buying 1 Lythe, 1 bath, 1 axe worth $75. Still nothing definitive but it seems like we are validating the below info: DAR Magazine of December 1916 Vol. XLIX #6, page 394, query 4859: "Jones-Hardin. John L. Jones Jr. of Morgan District Wilkes County NC was b. December 8, 1776 and married Lucy, daughter of Dr. John and Mary (Hardin) Taliaferro. He was the son of John L. Jones who was living in Morgan District Wilkes County NC in 1790 according to the census with 4 males under 16 and two females in his family. John Taliaferro was living in the same Di strict with 3 females in his family in 1790. His wife Mary Hardin was the daughter of Henry Hardin who was also living there with 1 male under 16 and 3 females in 1790." John Lawrence and Lucy Taliaferro Jones had the following children: 1. Judith Jones, born September 19, 1799 in Wilkinson County, GA. She married Lewis Clay December 14, 1840 in Wilkinson County, GA; born 1792 in Washington, GA. 2. Elizabeth Jones, born September 23, 1801 in Wilkinson County, GA. She married (1) ? Nelson. She married (2) Robert Cameron; born Abt. 1800 in Wilkinson County, GA. 3. Nancy M. Jones, born September 30, 1803 in Wilkinson County, GA; died September 19, 1851 in Wilkinson Co., GA. She married Peyton Clay December 19, 1830 in Wilkinson County, GA; born December 25, 1800 in Washington or Wilkinson Co., GA; died November 11, 1888 in Wilkinson Co., GA. 4. Craven Jones, born September 16, 1806 in Wilkinson County, GA. 5. Sarah Jones, born September 15, 1808 in Wilkinson County, GA. She married Edmund B. Clay July 07, 1831 in Wilkinson County, GA; born 1812 in Washington, GA. 6. Frances Jones, born July 05, 1810 in Wilkinson County, GA. 7. Beheathland Jones, born November 01, 1812 in Wilkinson County, Georgia; died July 12, 1876 in Wilkinson County, Georgia. She married James H. Fountain November 16, 1836; born January 08, 1799 in Wilkinson County, GA; died August 12, 1863 in Civil War. 8. John Richard Jones, born December 20, 1814 in Wilkinson County, GA; died March 1852 in Marianna, FL. He married Obedience Hatcher March 12, 1839; born December 20, 1814 in Wilkinson County, GA. 9. Mary Jones, born October 30, 1817 in Wilkinson County, GA. 10. Taliaferro Jones, born December 24, 1818 in Wilkinson County, GA; died May 1891 in Albany, GA. The Georgia Archives has maps for the earliest Lotteries and I would assume they would be the source you need. Lew, The tax assessor for most counties sell them, or someone in that office can probably tell you where to purchase a copy. I've paid between $3.00 and $6.00 for each county map; the price is set by each county. Everyone has been very nice about mailing me a copy. Does anyone know of a current source for Land Lottery Maps for a specific original county, or lottery district within a county, showing the location of land lots within a given district? For example, I would like to know the location of each Lot in the 15th Lottery District of original Carroll County (later Troup Co.) GA. I've been at this for a while, and I used to be able to order such maps from the GA Archives. This was in the late 1970's. Then I heard there was a private company which had them for sale. I have found out that a man buried under the name one of the women mentioned was a Keystone Cop! He sometimes drove the car. That in itself will be interesting. Maybe the story got crossed or mixed up with him.

aka Fullwood Springs Cemetery or Fullwood Cemetery. This cemetery is located south of Cedartown on Johnson Lake Road at Fullwood Springs Road. The oldest marked grave is from the 1870s. When we first visited this cemetery in May of 2003, it was badly overgrown, except for a couple of sections that family or friends were keeping cut. This summer with all the rain and heat made the grass and bushes grow more than usual. By fall the cemetery was in terrible shape. In some places the grass and bushes were over head high. The grass and bushes have been cut and the cemetery is looking better. There are many graves that are not marked, not even with a field stones. The only evidence that there is a grave is the indent in the ground or the fact flowers have been planted in what is probably a family plot. Many of the markers are broken and unreadable. The Polk County Cemetery Preservation Committee is trying to compile a list of burials in this cemetery. If you have information about someone that is buried here, please contact them at PolkCem@zWallet.com or Doris Robbins at Elantr@aol.com The committee would like to restore this old cemetery. Among the burials, you will find these surnames: Ayers, Barry, Cheeks, Cox, Dingler, Duke, Hamrick, Hicks, Hulsey, McKibben, Morgan, Pritchett, Short, Smith, Timms, & Watson. Just to name a few.
