He tells of the bombs and strafing and the aftermath of that horrible attack. Dad will be 85 next birthday. He is the son of JOHN WESLEY HARRIS b. April 1874, d. REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR DECEMBER 7, 1941
I too have some old snapshots stamped on the back Lollar's, B'Ham, Ala. My ancestors were in Muscogee County, GA, Alabama and Florida. If you get a direct reply, please share it with the rest of us. Thank you.
Angela... I don't know it as a fact, but I'm under the impression that at least some photographers pretty much set up a portable booth beside the street. I don't know how much they traveled, or much of anything, actually. I just wanted to add that my family lived pretty much between Concord, Whigham & Cairo, and I notice that many old photos of theirs had stamped on the back: "Lollard's B'ham, Ala." I was wondering if those photos were made in Birmingham or just developed there... and what kind of business Lollard's was... for instance, a photo studio... or possibly a drugstore? One of my grandfather White's sisters married a man named Jim Trull, who had a fish stand that I understand to have been on the sidewalk across from the rail depot in Cairo. He got the fish that he sold by train from south of Tallahassee. I visualize these photographer's booths as pretty much the same sort of thing, but I really don't kow. Hi group, I have been transcribing Bible records from the Family Bibles being offered at Ebay when the photos of the records pages are legible. I hope in this way, at least some of these won't be lost when the Bibles are purchased and disappear. Be sure to check the indexes to see all surnames in the transcriptions. You can see these at: http://www.ancestorhunt.com/family_bible_records.htm All transcriptions have been indexed and the indexes are at: http://www.ancestorhunt.com/family_bibles_index.htm Hope these will help someone. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/gafiles.htm Someone just asked me about searching for a specific name for any cemetery in Georgia which we have posted on-line. On the page for the url above --- you'll see SEARCH the GA Archives This link will take you to all the Search possibilities. If you happen to be on a County page.... http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/banks.htm Each County page has the index of what is available for that county. Right under the Topic - you'll see a "link" like "Search Cemeteries". Click on that and then choose the specific county --- or "all counties" -- and in the case of cemeteries "State Cemeteries". If you have any questions, I'll be glad to work with you -- and I'm sure I'll learn from the experience, as I'm always finding out new things about the way the Search Engines work. While you're on those county pages, look to see if you might have something in your own files to share.... we have some easy to use "forms http://www.poppet.org/gafiles Virginia Crilley

I have found my g-grandfather GUYTON FULLWOOD and g-grandmother CAROLINE in the 1880 and 1900 censuses in which they lived in the PINETUCKY MILITIA DISTRICT #343. What I am hoping someone can find for me is GUYTON,born <1847> in the 1870 census. The only thing I have come up with is G FULLWOOD, age 20, in DUBLIN, DISTRICT #391. In 1880 there were many Fullwoods living near each other. I'm hoping someone will be able to find GUYTON FULLWOOD living with parents and siblings in 1870. Is there anyone out there who is familiar with any info or paperwork such as lists of property or wills concerning the slaves of J.T. FULLWOOD or his father or grandfather? One last request... Can the maiden name of my g-grandmother CAROLINE possibly be found? There was a slaveowner near J.T. Fullwood land by the name of MOSES GUYTON. I was thinking that maybe my g-grandfather's mother might have come from that land or plantation and his father from J.T. Fullwood land. In the 1900 census, my g-grand- mother is listed as CAROLINE M. I'd appreciate any help you all can give.... and thanks in advance. Clara _______________________________________________ No banners. It has been a while since I have posted my Crawley brick wall. I am looking for the father of Francis Marion Crawley, b abt 1837 in in the Orchard Hill area of what was then Pike County GA, now Lamar County. At age 3 he was in the home of James and Mahala Crawley. I believe James and Mahala were the grandparents and not the parents. James and Mahala were 60 and 52 at the time of his birth. Also, in the 1880 census, James & Mahala's daughter Sarah (never married) was in Francis Marion Crawley's home and is listed as "aunt". I am interested in a Henry Crawley who appeared in one Pike County tax digest in the 1820's near the other Crawley's but has been found in no other Pike County records. Does anyone know anything of this Henry Crawley? Barbara Smallwood Stock, CGRS Check out my Holiday Special at http://www.angelfire.com/pro/garesearch. Hey! Thanks for the help! I really appreciate your time. I have been searching for a long time, abt 20 years, and have come to a semi-brick wall on all of my lines. I'm back to the early 1800's and as you may know records of that period for slaves are pretty hard to find. My lines are Griffin, McCullers, Williams, Chandler, Mars, and Ellison. All lived in Burke and Screven county GA. I've stopped 477 spam messages. You can too! Griffin Subject: Nicknames Howard, It wasn't uncommon for families and even whole communities to use 'pet' or 'nicknames.' In the 1860-1880 time frame, my great great grandfather in Butts County, Ga., had seven of eleven children that used nicknames such as Mack, Tug, Molly, Honey, Peter, Dolley, and Bud. None of the previous names resemble any of their real given names. She was married to a McDowell, she died in 1935. They had a son name Hugh McDowell. Also, there was another son, don't remember his name. Hugh McDowell signed the death certificate. Thanks, Jimmy Payne paynejd@bellsouth.net
