    1. [GEORGIA] Powell!
    2. Sapphire Geenie
    3. Hello, I am trying to find out if the George M Powell in the 1850 census for Lee County Georgia is the same man as John Powell who turns up in the 1860 census in Hillsborough County Florida. The children are very similar and so is the wives. In the 1850 census for Lee County it lists George M Powell 37, Margarette 37, Eliza 12, Charles 8, Ambros 6, James 4, and Taylor 1 In the 1860 census for Hillsborough County FL it lists John Powell 45, Margarette 45, Eliza 20, Charles 17, Andrew 15, Henry 12, James 10, Lilisky 7, William 6, Martha 9 months. I realize ages in these census aren't exactly ten years apart but I have found in other census where they weren't ten years apart they could go either way, for instance in 1870 James M Powell is now 22 years old. I can't find a John and Margarette Powell in 1850 in Lee County GA and that is where their first five children were born. According to Biographical Rosters of Florida's Confederate and Union Soldiers 1861-1865 Volume V - James M Powell and Ambrose C Powell were both born in Lee County GA, the descriptions and ages of these men make them seem like brothers also the fact that James M had a brother Charles and I can prove that James M is the son of John and Margarette as in the 1870 census Martha who was 9 months in 1860 is now living with her brother James M. Apparently John and Margarette Powell are deceased by 1870, and I can't find where the rest of the siblings are so far. If anyone knows anything about George M and Margarette Powell or John and Margarette Powell all of Lee County Georgia, please contact me as this is a brick wall for me. Thanks, Carla

    2. Doris Robbins
    3. The last couple of days, we have had several people trying to find people that have posted messages to the Brickwall pages at GA Unknown County, Floyd County, Haralson County and Polk County, GA AHGP web sites. Some of the messages were posted in 2002 and the people have either got a new e-mail address or no longer interested in genealogy. PLEASE, If you have posted a message to any web site or message board and have a new e-mail address, let the webmaster or message board know the new e-mail. There could be someone out there looking for you that has information to break down your brickwall. Doris Robbins elantr@earthlink.net Why Wait? Move to EarthLink.

    2. Michael Saffold
    3. Our SAFFOLD surname is often misspelled. However, it has been my experience that it is fairly easy to discern the misspellings in genealogical records by comparing given names, migration patterns, etc. I know of no connection between the SAFFOLDs and the STAFFORDs. The Saffolds were not in Crawford County, Ga. or Dale County, Ala. Vivian Price Saffold At 05:19 PM 3/21/2004 -0500, you wrote: >Have you ever seen your Stanford name listed as Stafford?
