The Washington Memorial Library in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia has vital indexes on: Deaths - 1919-1998 Marriage & Divorces - 1965-1998 Marriages Bibb Cty - 1823-1963 the index stops at 1920, then picks back up on the Bibb Marriages they also have some Florida Death index, some NC and maybe some books on others. They have books on just about about every county, state. So if there is someone who has a name and probable date of any of the above, if you want to send it to me and when I get a list, I can go and check for a definate date. They also have a web site http://www.co.bibb.ga.us/library/GH.htm and the lady told me that if you called or wrote, that they would try to fill your request for $3. +/- for a vital look up. That rate may of changed so don't think its definate. If I can get a list of enough, I will make a trip. Write me off-list. delilah evans

Janett, I do not have what you need, but wanted to mention this to you. If you do not hear from anyone who has the records to share, try the LDS Library to see if they have it on micro film or write to the county courthouse and see if they can find a copy for you. Cost is usually minimal and involves mailing and coping charges. Janett, Just FYI -- if you don't find someone who has the book -- When you order something through interlibrary loan, if you know the page or pages you need, just ask them to send you a copy of those pages. I've done that and it worked fine. But, I have no answers for you. My guess is that Easter/Ester may have used her middle name and that is why you cannot find her. Also remember that some of those census takers just wrote whatever they heard and many of them could not spell. It does make the job a lot harder. I had one census where the recorder entered everyone as being unable to read or write! That would include the teacher, the doctor and the desk clerk. You know Vivian Price is THE expert on the Georgia Montgomerys. I forwarded your email to her. If she can help you she will. If you don't hear from her, then she doesn't have the answer. You might try finding or ordering her book. THE HISTORY of DEKALB COUNTY. A great book with loads of information on the Montgomery family, Browns, Connallys, and anyone else of importance. I am looking for John Churchwell of Twiggs County GA. He died somewhere during the middle 1830's. His wife Martha Halstead remarried to Henry Perry, have her death date, children's names from both marriages, but can find nothing concrete on John Churchwell except a few ledger entries from a store. He is not Jon Churchwell who married Nancy Barrows. If anyone knows anything about my great, great grandfather John Churchwell I would appreciate the news. Greetings from an old Warhorse We are trying to put some pieces together about our ancestor- *LT/ CAPT-JAMES MONTGOMERY*-(b. circa 1736-1808). (1)- Lived in the "WAXHAWS, SC areas, before the "REV. WAR", Some Sources say that he Served in the-*WAXHAWS MILITIA*, or in the-*CONTENINTAL ARMY*, Prior to "1777"? (2)- GA. ARCHIVES-[and *DAR*] - Show him Enlisting in the *BURKE GEORGIA- MILITIA*-(1777), as a "2nd. LT.! GA. ARCHIVES also show him Enlisting in the *WILKES GEORGIA- MILITIA*- on the Exact same date???? Can you check your Records to Verify which is correct??? We have been told of a-[Speculation] Story of how two-(2) - Enlistments on the EXACT SAME DATE. That *WILKES COUNTY* was the first of the several "Newly Formed COUNTIES" in GEORGIA, that *BURKE COUNTY* was formed-[out of WILKES/ INDIAN TERRITORY] - later that same year??? Some sources say that *JAMES MONTGOMERY* HAD LAND IN *WILKES COUNTY, GA*-[CAROLINA'-BOUNTY LANDS?????], and then retired to what became *JACKSON COUNTY, GA.*??? Looking for ANY INTEL on the above *JAMES MONTGOMERY* THANKS AND GOD BLESS SEMPER FI BA
William Paget was born October 28, 1782 in South Carolina, probably in Colleton County. It must be noted however that other groups of Paget families are to be found in South Carolina during this period. The 1790 census of South Carolina shows at least ten families of Paget's (any spelling) with a boy of the right age group to be William. These families were residing in Charleston District, St. Bartholomes Parish, and St. Phillips and St. Michaels Parishes, Camden District, Chester County, 96th District, Edgefield County, Edgefield County, Cheraw District, Newberry County, Ninety-Six District, Orangeburg (North Part); and included the following names, William, Joseph, Thomas, Job, Josiah, John, Samuel, Moses and Benjamin. William Padgett and his wife Elizabeth were married March 17, 1803. Children were James, Anna, Levina, William, Wiley, Ira, Martha, Henry, Elijah and Elizabeth. William and Elizabeth with most of their family removed from South Carolina to Alabama as a group sometime between 1828 and mid-1830. William and his family residing in Covington County and probably making their way as farmers. William was commissioned a Lieutenant in the 46th Regiment from Covington and Dale Counties, of the 11th Brigade, and 4th Division of the Alabama militia. William died January 3, 1843 in the Conekah River Community of Covington County, Alabama Any assistance with primary or secondary documentation of these lines and their extension greatly appreciated. Always happy to swap files. Walt
