Must be something wrong here...Mrs. Register's book on Bulloch County Records says Page 150 goes in Deed Book A whereas Deed Book AAA begins with Page 280... I know - and any time there was the slightest hint that alcohol was involved in someone's death, it seems to me that the local newspaper made it a point to bring it to the public's attention - no matter how good and hard-working the family. I was just saying I think it's a shame that the fact that he was returning from a place where one could purchase liquor had to be aired in public when he was killed by a runaway horse. How horrible for his family that he died so tragically - how horrible also that they had to be publicly humiliated in the local news. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynn Cunningham" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, November 13, 2006 9:30 PM Subject: Re: [GEORGIA] Jesse Vaughn July 1891 - Telfair Co. > A "blind tiger" was a place where alcoholic beverages are sold illegally; a > speakeasy. > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Linda Murray" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Monday, November 13, 2006 7:40 PM > Subject: Re: [GEORGIA] Jesse Vaughn July 1891 - Telfair Co. > > > > Emma, > > > > The 1880 census for Telfair County (which you can view for free online) > > shows that Jesse was the apparent son of James and Mary Vaughn. Emma, The 1880 census for Telfair County (which you can view for free online) shows that Jesse was the apparent son of James and Mary Vaughn. He married Tempe AS Spiers in Telfair County on September 18, 1887. Jesse, his parents, and siblings were shown on the 1870 census of Telfair, and the 1860 census of Pulaski. There is more than one James Vaughn of the same approximate age as Jesse's father, but the one I suspect as Jesse's was the apparent son of Coleman or Coalman and Sarah Vaughn, who were in the 1850 census enumeration of Wilkinson County. I hope this helps you decide if you connect to this one who died too young. It's a shame that such a tragedy had to involve the mention of his visit to a blind tiger. Can you help me with a kinship problem? When Sue and Sam got married they each had a son by a previous marriage. Sue's son was named John and Sam's boy was Joe. In due time, Sue and Sam had a daughter whom they named Ann. Ann was the half sister to John because they both had the same mother. She was also the half sister to Joe because they had the same father. But what kin were John and Joe to each other? Any? John
