I cannot possibly send you all I have collected on this family, but I have attached one chapter of the book. Please note that this book is still in print, and this chapter is protected by copyright. Also please understand that my interest in the Montgomerys is more historical than genealogical. Since several of the Montgomerys were well-known figures in Georgia history, the Georgia Archives and the Atlanta History Center have quite a bit of material on them. You also will want to search the Jackson County GAGenWeb site, as well as the GenWeb sites of all other counties where you suspect your Montgomerys lived. I also would suggest you write to Kay Bradley, who is a Montgomery descendant. Her address is: [email protected] If you have *specific* questions, please don't hesitate to ask. 1. [GEORGIA] Info Request: George and/or David McLaughlin (MAINE and GEORGIA)
    2. David Reed
    3. Hi Dannye, I do think it's entirely possible we might overlap! My how far we've spread, huh? I think that the thing to do is to verify that David McLaughlin and William McLaughlin were related, and I can try to find out if David McLaughlin and George McLaughlin were, in fact, brothers. If there is anyone on the list who might be able to help out, please speak up!!! J (I'm going to re-direct this to you, AND the McLaughlin list). There was a gentleman out there on the list somewhere that sent me the information that said George and David were brothers (a month or two ago), but I have not yet been able to find supporting documentation. George McLaughlin (the elder, settling in Harlem/China, Maine, a French and Indian War survivor, severely wounded at the Battle of Abrams Plains, Quebec), father of George (also in Harlem/China, Maine, grandfather of David (raised in Harlem/China, married, moved to Levant, Maine) I wish my grandmother was still alive, to see where her family came from.(she was a McLaughlin.g-grandaughter to David) -David From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, November 29, 2006 11:36 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [IRL-ANTRIM] Info Request: George McLaughlin David: We might just connect. I've never had any luck pushing back any further my ancestor William McLaughlin born 1784 in Maryland. William married Susannah Tuck in 1809, and they had a son Josiah Tuck McLaughlin. William married second in 1830 to Lucy Hood in Wilkes Co., Ga., and moved to Troup County, Ga. William died Jan. 18, 1841 in Troup County, I believe. Josiah Tuck McLaughlin married in 1823 in Oglethorpe Co., Georgia to Mary Ann Jane Jordan and they had a son George Thomas McLaughlin, who was my great-grandfather, born 1852. George Thomas McLaughlin was the father of my grandmother, Martha Isabel McLaughlin who married Thomas Gibson in 1901. Do you think there's overlapping here between your McLaughlins and mine? I think it sounds possible. Thank you for sending the information. I hope you will let me know more. Dannye

Subject: Wake Co.., NC - orphans I'm researching an Edmond GAWF, Henry GOUGH and Lewis GOFF (funny how they all spelled their name differently). Edmond & Henry are in the 1830 Henderson Co., TN census and Lewis was too young to be a head of household but was probably there too. Each line had a story about being born BARLOW, but raised by GOFF. Sure enough, we did DNA testing on 2 descendants from each line and they all match BARLOWs. They were all born in NC and Wake Co. is where we find BARLOWs and GOFFs so we suspect they're from this area. No luck yet but at least we can cast a wider net. Of course we don't know if our three were brothers (unlikely since Edmond was old enough to take care of the younger two) or possibly uncle/nephews or first cousins. So, if you can find male HINTONs to DNA test, you might be able to find out more information. http://home.comcast.net/~philgoff/DNAresults.htm Good luck in your search Oh, in some records it appears that Edmond "took in" other children. He lost several sons and sons-in-law during the Civil War. Law required someone to stand as guardian for the minor children (women of course not being enough)- and Edmond stepped in. One set were the children of his dau. When he died a neighbor stepped in.
