Hi y'all: Do any of you have any GEORGEs from Switzerland? I would love to connect with any descendents of my Swiss GEORGE family. Family lore says they may have come from Greece, way back? Are there any Greek GEORGEs around, too? My ggmother was Sophie Henriette GEORGE, b. 1865, dau. of Jean Louis GEORGE, b. 1827 and Henriette Francoise MAYERT, and grandaughter of Francois Frederic GEORGE, b. 1786 and Marie Henriette RUBATTEL, b. 1790. Sophie came to the US in the early 1900s with her husband Edouard REYMOND and 5 or 6 children. They lived in CT for about 9-10 years before moving to Port Neuf, Quebec, Canada. Edouard was a horticulturist. Sophie's brother Jean Louis GEORGE, b. 1869, came to the US also around 1900 and family lore says he moved to Tampa, FL where he married (possibly a Marie ?). Supposedly they had no children, and Jean Louis and his wife both died in Tampa. Do any of these names, dates, locations ring bells with anyone on this list? If so, I'd truly love to hear from you.
