Dear George family list members, Does anyone have connections to or information on the following family: James George born abt 1822, of Hardy county VA; served in the Civil war mustered in at Greenland, VA 3 dec 1861; discharged 27 jun 1862. Left Virginia shortly after discharge. Married: 1)Elizabeth b. abt 1822 (28 age 1850 Hardy VA census) 2)Phoebe Wolford md 8 mar 1860 b. abt 1829 (31 age 1860 Hardy VA census) children of first marriage: Sofronia b. abt 1846 of Hardy VA, md Martin ALT 20 dec 1864 in Greene county OH, returned to Hardy county VA and raised her family JACOB b. abt 1848 GABRIEL b. abt 1850 Mary b. abt 1853, returned to Va and md Benjamin ALT 14 nov 1872 Pendleton VA CHRISTIAN b. abt 1854 death certificate of Sofronia's son says that Sofronia was from Indiana. History of Pendleton County by OF Morton says that James moved to Kansas. I have lost the family sometime after 1862 from VA to ???? Does anyone have a James, Jacob, Gabriel, or Christian that appeared on the 1870 or 1880 census for either Indiana or Kansas but were originally from Virginia? Any clues would be greatly appreciated!
