I am descended from Elizabeth Jane GEORGE (born 11 Sep 1818 in TN), who married Hardy WINDHAM (born 31 Aug 1804 in VA) on 6 Jan 1836 in Lawrence County, AL and died on 17 Jan 1902 in Italy, TX. I am also descended from Mary "Polly" GEORGE (born 22 June 1804 in TN), who married John (Mitchell?) COUCH of SC and died on 30 June 1880 in Italy, TX. The information I have lists the father for both Elizabeth and Mary "Polly" as Samuel GEORGE of South Carolina (who died in 1842(?)). I have found a listing for a Samuel George in Lawrence County, AL for the 1830 and 1840 US Censuses, but according to his listed age he could not have been the father for both girls. I suspect that he is Samuel GEORGE, Jr., the girls' sibling. Does anyone have any information on these families? I would very much like to find that these two females are indeed the daughters of the same Samuel GEORGE, but there is some information which points otherwise.
