I am hunting for a John George who married a Sarah Housden in 1811 in Shenandoah (now Page) County, Virginia. This couple then seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. I was talking this morning to another Housden researcher who is the president of the Page County, Va Historical Society. In that position she had just received a copy of a letter dated 1813 (the rest of the details are sketchy in my memory) but I think from a ?? Kaufman in Licking County, Ohio to his brother in Shenandoah County, Virginia. In this letter the writer mentioned that perhaps John George could bring him his horse. This is the first inkling that we have that perhaps John George could have gone to Ohio. According to the Page County Va Historical Society president, a goodly number of Page County residents migrated to Carroll County Ohio which happens to be just south of Columbiana County?? Does any of this ring any bells with anyone? I'd sure love to find this George family. Our original Housden immigrant had 9 children and we have descendents of 5 on a Rootsweb e-mail list. There were two were girls who didn't reproduce and two (including Sarah who married John George), were girls who married and then seemingly were abducted by aliens I don't have any additional information about THIS John George. As you can tell, my focus is on the Housdens. I have some more information about Sarah Housden and lots more about the rest of the Housden family if anyone is interested.
