Cathy, Okay, I am now totally confused. Let me go over this again. I first THOUGHT my grandfather's name was or might have been Lon or William Lon HOBBS B: 1823 and that he married Elizabeth (maiden name not known) B: 1843 because she is shown as head of house in 1870 and 1880 Lincoln Co. TENN census and between 1870 and 1880, three more children appear. I have had so many nice people try to hook her up as an Elizabeth George and him as a Jesse HOBBS. My greatgrandfather W.L. (William Lon) HOBBS (a son of this union) shows up in that 1880 census as a 12 year old Lonzo (and I have him later with names of all his children, etc), along with four brothers...I am started to hallucinate and wonder did ? Hobbs marry two different Elizabeth George's ; was the Elizabeth in the 1870 and 1880 census really the child of ? Hobbbs and both he and his wife died and she, being the oldest took care of the boys...but where did those three extra boys come in between 1870 and 1880. A little like "All My Children". Being very new at this, I now understand my Mom's muttering and frustration through the years...I know it's like a jigsaw puzzle, but I may need someone to stop me from shaving the pieces to make them fit ;-) I'm open to ANY suggest, Cathy...what do you think given my sketchy initial info....
