    3. GEORGE Cousins, This is my first query on this list. I am looking for others who might be researching this line in order that we may correspond and share data. All I have on my Jane GEORGE is that she was born in 1800 (probably in CT), the daughter of Bedford GEORGE. Jane married Seth GRAVES (b. 1790 in Litchfield CT). Is there anyone out there who knows Jane's parentage? The above info is from Ken GRAVES of the GRAVES Family Association. Thank you. Carol Martin CarolMartin3@compuserve.com.

    3. Cindy, The book "George Genealogy" by Keith George, 1991, has all of the Georges you name. It shows Lillian and Erving as descendants of John George of Haverhill, but also covers the descendants of Nicholas of Dorchester. The book is still available, I think, from the author's daughter: Linda Farrer 2049 Diamond St. San Diego, CA 92109 Cost: $25 plus postage ($5?) In addition to the two George lines noted above, it covers the descendants of James, of Amesbury, and Isaac, of Albany, NH. If the book is sold out or you decide not to buy it, let me know and I will send the pertinent information. For you immediate information, the lineage given is: John George m. 1. GEORGE FAMILY IN S.W. VIRGINIA
    2. R. Perry
    3. DOES ANYONE CONNECT WITH THIS FAMILY? I wouldlove to know more about the ancestry of 1st Generation William George....see below. Robert L. Perry Mt. Pleasant, SC rperry@awod.com -------------------- ------------------- FIRST GENERATION 1. William GEORGE died in 1810 in Tazewell Co, VA. He began acquiring land by grant and deed in present day Tazewell County, as early as 1795. He also owned building lots in Jeffersonville (town of Tazewell) in 1800 and owned a drygoods and general store called "George and Co." He left a large estate at his death in 1810. He was married to Jane/Jennet PATTON (daughter of Henry PATTON and Martha RANDOLOPH) in 1793. Jane/Jennet PATTON died in 1820. Source for this Patton line is : www.silverchat.com/BallGenealogy/williampatton.htm AND http://cust2.iamerica.net/fpreston/patton.htm William GEORGE and Jane/Jennet PATTON had the following children: +2 i. Henry Patton GEORGE. +3 ii. John Boyd GEORGE. +4 iii. Col. Harvey (Hervy) GEORGE. 5 iv. William O. GEORGE was born in Sep 1804. He died on 22 Nov 1859 in Witten Valley, Tazewell Co., VA. In the 1850 census, he was living in the household of his brother Harvey. SECOND GENERATION 2. Henry Patton GEORGE was born on 21 Feb 1794. Harvey George was a Lawyer and Farmer. He served as School Commissioner in 1830 and in the General Assemby for two terms, 1832-34 and 1848-49. At the beginning of the Civil War, he returned to the State Legislature and served until 1863. He then became a presiding Judge in the Tazewell County Court until his death in 1865. He was given the honorary title of Colonel by Gov. John B. Floyd. In 1829, Hervy George acquired land on the west fork of Plum Creek in Witten Valley, six miles west of the Tazewell court house, and here, about 1843, he completed a large brick home of Three-Part Palladian architecture which was named Chimney Rock Farm. It was also been called The Willows. While common in the Tidewater and Piedmont regions of Virginia, this style of architecture is rare in the south western part of Virginia. This home was placed on the Virginia Historic Landmarks Register in the 1970's and today belongs to the D. H. Harold family. The 1850 Census, also lists William George, age 47 (1803), as living the the household of Harvey. He was married to Sallie HORTON (daughter of Daniel HORTON and Mary). Helen Baylor McNeer's family bible information has the following about Col. Harvey George's home. some of this information differs from a Tazewell newspaper article about this house published about the time it was placed on the Virginia Historic Register. In Helen's handwriting, she states: "this home was built by William George, slaves and a traveling architect, for his son Col. Harvey George, in 1832.
