    1. Destruction of graves
    2. Jennifer Ohmes
    3. Fellow Genealogists; Not long ago on one of the lists I subscribe to, there was some discussion concerning the distruction of graves and graveyards. The following message was sent to me by a fellow genealogist. I was really upset after reading the article (it is online; use the URL). I am having a hard time believing that people can be so heartless and unfeeling just because of 'progress'. This IS a very disturbing problem that MUST be dealt with. Please take the time to read this article; we must do something to try and change the laws regarding this problem. I certainly don't want my ancestors moved or disposed of in this manner. Please contact your law makers and let them know how you feel. This is indeed a disgrace to humankind. Stop this distruction now. Please read the article at this URL. I think it will certainly open your eyes. And, yes, this is a world wide problem. ********************* The "Death of a Cemetery" story that Jack Eaton referenced in his 8/23/98 message to the INROOTS list this morning (below) is available on-line at: http://www.starnews.com/news/citystate/98/aug/0822SN_rhoads.html Whether you live in Indiana or not, you need to take a minute to read this article -- today! The same thing is happening all over the country -- even the world. It seems nobody cares! It's "legal" and they get away with it all the time. Write to a State Representative or State Senator today. Don't let them believe that, just because it's "legal" that it's morally or ethically "right". Lois ************************* Thanks for listening. I believe that together we can make a difference. Mary George dates unknown. Married a Charles Greene. Resided in VA probably city of Richmond circa 1850. Only known for sure child was a son Charles FM Greene. 3. Debbie, Hi. I have a partial transcript of the 1850 census from Greene County Indiana that shows four GEORGE families. I am assuming they are all related. I also believe they all came from Boone County, Kentucky. It may be that David, William, and John are brothers. I, too, would like to know who their parents are. John is my ancestor, but the first census I have located him on is the 1830 census of Boone County, Kentucky. The land patents records (from the BLM website) show both David and John from Boone County, Kentucky. Here's the partial transcript from the 1850 census (cut to include only GEORGE surnames): 1850 GREENE COUNTY, INDIANA CENSUS District No. 40 HH Fam Name Age Sex Occupation Value Birth Place 235 235 James F.
