    1. GEORGE, James P
    2. Hello, My George line has been very difficult to track. My Great grandfathers name was James P. George, he was born in VA, July 1, 1869 and died in CA Dec 9, 1941. I have his death cert hoping to get his parents names. Nothing on the cert to help me. I cannot locate birth because of date being too early. I have the 1920 census, which again states born in VA. He married a Alice B. Berry abt 1897. They had all their children in Maryland, and lived in PA in 1920. Came to CA in 1925. Does anyone know anything about James P George parents and siblings? Thanks. Donna

    1. Request for informaton
    2. Hi, I am writing trying to locate information regarding a missing aunt, Anne Ross. It seems that many years ago she and her brother, Alexander Neil Ross, had a falling out. I do not know what about, but apparently they never spoke to each other during the latter part of Uncle Neil's life. My grandmother, Janet Finley Ross Nicol, was their sister and the only information I have been able to locate was recorded by my grandmother prior to her death in 1933. It indicates that Anne Ross married C. Edward George and resided in the Plattsburg Missouri area. Other records indicate that they had a child named Flora and my grandmother obituary, published on Dec. 11, 1933 related that she was survived by her brother, Alexander Neil Ross, and an elder sister, E. George of Plattsburg. This in addition to my grandfather and mother or course. Some years later my grandfather remarried and moved his family to San Diego California. This was while my mother was still a little girl, and as such lost contact with her aunt. My grandmother was born in 1904, so I hold little hope that her elder sister would still be alive, but it is possible. If anyone has any information regarding Anne George, her husband C. Edward George or their daughter Flora, I would appreciate you letting me know. One other thing that might be helpful, I read in some old newspaper clippings that he was an up and coming cattleman in the Plattsburg area. Thank you, Doug Routh

    1. Re: James Howard George and Hazel (Ferrier) George
    2. Hello All, I'm new to the George listserv so I am hoping someone can give me a big boost. I'm looking for any information regarding my grandfather, James Howard George, from Pennsylvania. He was born in 1885 and died in 1934. He was married to Hazel Ferrier (1894-1942) also from Pennsylvania. The four children who grew to adulthood were Florence George Steffey 1917-1969, Mildred George Horton 1919-1998, Kenneth James George 1921-1973, and Edward Donald George 1931-1989. If anyone has info regarding my grandmother, Hazel Ferrier George, and her roots I would welcome that info also. The scant information I have places this branch of the George family in the Blairsville, Vandergrift. Saltsburg, Pennsylvania area. Thank You, Edward Donald George, Jr. 5414 91st Street Lubbock, TX 79424-4312 806-794-7056

    3. Hi all, I'm a new subscriber to this list and I'm hoping to exchange information with anyone researching the GEORGE surname in northeastern Illinois. Simeon Bush TYLER and Ruth Webster FLANDERS had two daughters who married two gentlemen by the name of GEORGE. 1. Harriet Marian TYLER, b. 24 Mar 1838 at Plainfield, Will Co., IL; died 11 Oct 1890. She married John Dalrimple GEORGE on 20 Nov 1856. He was a farmer who lived at Onarga, Iroquois Co., IL. 2. Sarah Malvina TYLER, b. 17 Jan 1840 at Plainfield, Will Co., IL; died 9 Sep 1862, with her only child. She married Henry GEORGE on 3 Jan 1860. Henry was from Lemont, Cook County, Illinois. Henry later married Sophronia CHAPIN and had a family. Would appreciate any further information on these two families. Dave Tyler - Fort Worth, TX

    3. Bob, I am researching the GEORGE family of Lincoln County, Tennessee. In addition to my branch of the family, there was another group of GEORGEs in Lincoln County which may or may not be related. Some of this group apparently moved from North Carolina to Nova Scotia shortly after the Revolutionary War. Some of them moved to Lincoln County, Tennessee, in later years. I have some information on this family, but am not focusing on the Nova Scotia group. I am primarily interested in sorting out the two groups. I would be glad to share what I have. 3. My ancestors arrived in the USA from England in the 1700s through Newbury, Massachusetts and settled in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont. My grandfather's grandfather was raised in Newbury, VT (Jeremiah Nourse George) and is a descendant of Rebecca Nourse, who was a "witch" murdered in Salem, Mass. Does anyone have any information about this branch of the George family? The information I have is derived from a history of the town of Newbury, VT. Thanks! Gail
