Dear Phil, Yes, I am very much interested in obtaining a copy of the book "George Genealogy". Please put my name on the list. The costs is fine. Thank you for sharing this information with me. Best wishes, Tom Sweeney
Hello, I am trying to find something on my great grandfathers parents and siblings. I cannot seem to get past him, cannot seem to find any census on him as a young man, only the 1920 census when he was married and living in PA. His name James Perry George, born VA July 1, 1869. He married Alice Berry in Maryland abt 1897, all their children born in Maryland. Perry, Clarence, Edgar, Iona, Charles, Lester, Bernard. They moved to PA after 1912, then to CA in 1925. James died Dec 9, 1941 in CA. Is anyone working on this line? Or has a James born in VA around 1869? Donna
The book "George Genealogy", by the late Keith H. George, 1991, is a monumental work (797 pages) tracing the families of four New England George immigrants: James, of Amesbury, MA; John, of Haverhill, MA; Nicholas, of Dorchester, MA; and Isaac, of Albany, NH. It is out of print. The author's daughter might reprint it if enough interest is shown. The cost would probably be around $60. If you are interested, notify me and I will send the messages to her by mail. It represents many years of work and should be much more widely available. Any interest? Phil Ellsworth
I am seeking information on Jesse George who died in 1815 in Gallia County, Ohio. I descend from his daughter Mary "Polly" George who married Basil Prather in 1804 in Gallia Co. Mary was born in 1784 in N.C. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Tom Sweeney

George or a George George I have references that refer to him with both names. He was born in 1810 somewhere in New Hampshire, Conn. or Vermont. All I have for sure is that he married Hannah Jeannette Rolph and was the father of Irving Charles George born 27 July 1842. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated I am about to give up on finding him, I have tried everything I could think of. Thanks, Sandy svincent@ncats.net
Well, I took 10 minutes and read 'How to Write a Successful Query' last night. Let me try it again. This time I will only query from each surname list information that is pertinent to that surname. Thanks for your patience and responses. These are my grandparents: Wilbur Fiske BALL b. 1894 unknown d. 1958 Haverhill, MA buried in Newton, NH m. Beatrice Emma GEORGE b. 1895 believe she was born in Merrimac, MA d. 1989 Haverhill, MA buried in Newton, NH. I believe that they resided in Haverhill, MA. Wilbur had 2 children from a previous marriage Russell and Winifred BALL LANCASTER. They had 3 children: Raymond Ellsworth, Phyllis, and Wilbur Fiske (my father). Beatrice was the daughter of: Elmer E. GEORGE & Alma (BARTLETT) GEORGE Both Elmer and Alma died around 1897 in/around Amesbury, Essex, MA or Newton, Rockingham, NH.My grandmother was raised by her aunt, I believe it was Anna GEORGE BATTLES in Haverhill, Essex, MA and Newton, NH when her parents died in the 1897 epidemic. My father believes that Alma was related to the PRESCOTTs of Newton, Rockingham, NH. He also remembers that Ezra (Elmer's father) was a state representative in NH. I have not found any GEORGEs that were NH politicians, but I did find an Ezra BARTLETT that was. My father has a picture of Alma, Elmer, Anna and Ezra. Since there isn't a last name on the picture and only a first name I am inclined to believe that Ezra was Alma's relative and not Elmer's. Perhaps both of their father's were named Elmer. I did find an Ezra GEORGE but he was born in 1763 and could not be the father. I hope that was a little better and lots more informative. So, what I would like to know is if anyone knows who the parents of Elmer GEORGE and/or Alma BARTLETT were? Thanks, Cherryl BALL
Hi. I have just begun my research. You can tell that someone gave me the BALL line so that was a great beginning. Now I am trying to find more information about my other lines except for my maternal side which my mother is doing. So you would think that my task would be small...just my paternal grandmother's line. Not so, most of the information that I come across is older that the dates I am trying to research. So I am missing a generation or two in the flow prior to my ggrandparents. Any help on the lines in bold lettering would be appreciated. Thanking you in advance for your time. Does anyone have a connection with the following: Moses GEORGE wife Lucutia and the following sons: William, Charles, Francis, Frederick, Peter Lewis. I believe his father was Moses GEORGE, Sr. Also brothers of Moses GEORGE, Jr., were Edwin and William. Moses GEORGE, Jr. farmed in Warsaw, Goodhue Co., MN and then the three brothers moved to West Concord, Dodge Co., MN. After that Edwin and William moved further west. (I don't know how far, but I think they stayed in Minnesota.) I think they are related to Eliza GEORGE b. 1827 who married Dexter KING, NY>MN. Hoping to hear from someone. History of the Great Kanawha Valley, Vol II, Page 49-50 Joseph E. George, representative of a pioneer family of Mason county, W. Va., was born in Arbuckle district of that county, July 14, 1822. His paternal grandfather was Joseph George, born in Fauquier county, of Scotch descent. He married Lydia Shumate of the same county and lineage, the union resulting in the following children: William, Cumberland, Joseph, Whitson, Sallie and Ann. William George, the father of our subject, was born in March, 1789. He was a soldier of 1812 and immediately after the close of that war, in 1815, was united in marriage with Nancy Eastham, who was born in 1793. The marriage gave birth to the following children: Elizabeth, Andrew F. (deceased), Joseph E., Margaret E., Lewis (deceased), Lucy E., Nancy C., Lydia S. (deceased), Sallie B. (deceased), and Catherine S. The father, mother and the two eldest children removed into the Kanawba valley in 1820 and located in what is now Arbuckle district, just below Five Mile creek. There the parents lived until their deaths, that of the father occurring in 1871 and the mother in 1879. He was a minister of the gospel of the Missionary Baptist faith and was the first of that belief to settle in what is now Mason county. Through his ministry and individual efforts he was instrumental in founding the first Baptist church in which the first organized Baptist society in the county worshipped. This noteworthy event was consummated in 1821, the association being significantly named Teay's Valley, and still maintains an existence. Mr. George was their first pastor and preached for them during the course of many arduous and eventful years. He was also the founder and first pastor of the "Concord" Baptist church, and of another congregation in Arbuckle district, which still continues as a reminder of his many valuable deeds in the cause of religion. His oldest son, Andrew F. George, was a gallant confederate soldier during the war and lived in Mason county until 1884, when his death occurred. Joseph E. George, the only living son of the old pioneer minister and settler of Mason county, now owns and occupies the homestead of his parents and is one of the foremost farmers of the county. In 1868 he was married to Miss Sallie A. Henderson who was born in Mason county, November 7, 1828. Mr. George and wife rank among the leading families of their community and are highly respected by a wide circle of acquaintances.

He was a son of James George, who was a native of North Carolina, of Scotch descent. James George settled in Mason County on 590 acres of land, his father having purchased the first land in this county off of the Mercer estate. He was also one of the first to settle in Hannan district. He married a Miss Ward, and their children were.' Elizabeth, William, Jessie, Mary, David, Judah and Rachel, The children of David George and Elizabeth Hereford, who became his wife, were: Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary, Margaret, James, Kate, John. The father of these children died June 12, 1887, on the farm where he settled, and his wife preceded him to the grave in 1873. James George remained with his father until twenty-one years of age, and then took a trip to Missouri and Kansas in the year 1867. In the next year be returned and took up the occupation of farming. June 4, 1868, be married Emma C. Hereford, and their children are: Lelia, Bertha and Judson. Mrs. George is a daughter of James T. Hereford. In 1864 he bought a farm in connection with his father, which he settled on four years later, Mr. George now owns this farm himself, and has added to it 400 acres. He and his wife are members of the Baptist church. He served as deputy sheriff for six years, one term under H. G. Nease, and he is now serving a term under George Poffenbarger.
I am assuming that all the new from Christmas comupter owners are now up and running and on line. So it would seem that now is a good time to repost my surnames and see if I can connect with anyone. John George married Sarah Housden in 1811 in Shenandoah County, Va. They then seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth. There is a John George served 33rd Virginia Infantry Co C. from Shenandoah Co with parents of John and Sarah. But I have no proof that these are MY John and Sarah. This John George m Mary Irwin children: Wm Fillmore George (m. Emma Sine) Mary Florence (m James W Ryman) There is also a David George who served 33rd Virginia Infantry Co C. I don't know if he's a brother of the above John George or not. I have much information about the rest of the Housden clan that I'd love to be able to share. Vicky Drake dvicky@primenet.com

My name is Ed George (Edward Donald George, Jr.) My dad was born in Blairsville, PA in 1931 and died in Akron, Ohio on July 5, 1989. His father was James Howard George (born Feb 28, 1885 and died on November 27, 1934. James Howard was married to Hazel Ferrier. According to my grandfather's funeral record his father was named Alexie George and his mother was Martha Walt. I'm wondering if my great-grandfather was the Alexander George that has been written of lately on the George rootsweb. This is all the information I have concerning my grandfather and greatgrandfather. Any information or leads would be greatly appreciated. I am aware that Washington and Indiana counties are close together in western PA so I thought there just might be a connections. Thanks. ED George 5414 91st ST Lubbock, TX 79424-4312 806-794-7056
