Joseph George of Orange County, North Carolina executed his will on 14 Feb 1770, naming his wife, Ellenor, sons: Ambrose, William, Isaac, James and Jesse, and daughters: Mary Hinsford (?), Catherine Riddle and Peggy George. Joseph died before May 1774. I am seeking any and all information on this family. Tom Sweeney Tomping22@aol.com
Jane George married Thomas Carroll and lived in old Augusta Co, VA. Her father was probably Thomas George, probably born 1695-1700. If Jane was William Carroll's second wife, her father Thomas George may have been born a little later. William and Jane Carroll lived in old Augusta County on what later became the current Rockingham-Shenandoah Co. line William CARROLL [abt 1721 - 1771] moved from Frederick Co,MD to Augusta Co where he was a constable in 1742. His other wife's name was Mary. I suspect Mary was the first wife. I am seeking information on the George connections. Juhling McClung
I am searching for Drucilla George in PA in the 1850 Census. According to information I have from the 1870 Census, she was b c1838 in PA. By 1857 she was married to John Rank who was b c1832 in Saxony. John was a coal miner when they lived in Will Co, IL in 1870, so I would assume that he had the same occupation in PA. Any help or clues appreciated. Cheryl

I am trying to locate information on a William GEORGE who was born in Germany in September of 1838. I have located a copy of his obituary, but some of the words were cut-off. It tells that he came to America at the age of ________(word missing!). Anyway, we think he was born in Wurttemburg, and possibly came through Wales. He married a Hannah DUNDORE who was born in Ohio, but whose family was originally from around the Berks Co., PA area. Hannah's parents settled in the Plainfield, IL area as did William. As many others from this side of the family also came from the same basic PA area, I am thinking that maybe William had some connection there also. We are having a George Reunion this August and I would very much like to have this info by this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated! (By the way, I haven't found William on any immigration lists so far. And, supposedly, he had some connection to the royal family.) Thanks Caron
Was someone searching for an Effie George a while back. I found an Effie George in the 1910 Humphreys County, Tennessee census living with her brother Tom Teaster or Feaster . Her age was 35 E.D 62, Sheet 2,Volume 48. Tricia
Greetings to the George Researchers A while back, this lady wrote from Reno, NV inquiring if her George tribe and mine were similar or the same. Since they aren't, thought I'd try posting her inquiry and send along whatever responses may come along. Sarah George b about 1810 IN (Maybe Perry Co) m 1853 Lewis Deena Webb, a gold miner in California. Her father was named Hugh George, no birthdate or place. She was quite a bit older than her husband and d in 1889 in Leggett Valley, CA. Researcher can't find marriage or death certificate, and finds nothing in Perry Co., IN She finds this couple in the 1860 census, but not the 1880 or 1870. Does this look good to any of you? Appreciate what the list does for us all. I've had marvelous success through Marty Grant's web page, and really appreciate what is going on there. Seaching for information on my great-grandmother Elizabeth HARRIS. She married my great-Grandfather Charles ANDRUS. They had several children, including my Grandmother Bessie Juanita ANDRUS (b Grundy Co June 17, 1899) who married my Grandfather Hubert GEORGE, Luella ANDRUS REDDIG, and a son Charles. Charles wound up being ordained in Prebyterian Church and later received a Doctoral and subsequently becamean Archbishop. After the death of her husband, Elizabeth eventually remarried to Lloyd Maupin. She died in KC, MO c.1980
Greetings Monty, Thanks for the information on Benjamin George. The 1820 census for LincolnCounty, Tennessee shows 5 possibles for my Richard George born in 1805. The 1850/60 census shows his father to have been born in Georgia and his mother in South Carolina. The 5 possible all have boys in the correct age group. Benjamin with 2, William with 2, John with 3, Jessee with 3 and Pressley with 1. You have eliminated the Benjamin George selection but I was wondering if you might have a guess as to which other George my Richard be the son of. Stay Well Macon Jones
Dear George Cousins, Does anyone have any information on any of the Georges that lived near the border of Hardy VA later became Grant WV and Pendleton Va/WV area from about 1790-1890? I feel confidant that they are all related and am trying to fit them together, any pieces of the puzzle you may have would be appreciated-- If anyone would like to read further my connections and family data are: This family was found on the 1850/1860 Hardy Census: James GEORGE Jr. b abt 1825-27, 25 age 1850, 33 age 1860 Elizabeth b. abt 1822, 28 age 1850 died before 1860 Phoebe Wolford b. abt 1829, 31 age 1860, md 8 mar 1860 Sofronia b. abt 1846, 4 age 1850, 14 age 1860 (my gggmother) Jacob b. abt 1848, 2 age 1850, 12 age 1860 Gabriel (Wolford) b. abt 1850, 10 age 1860 Mary b. abt 1853, 7 age 1860 Christian b. abt 1854, 6 age 1860 I made the mistake of attaching the above James to the following James because they were listed on the 1850 Census as Jr and Sr and were listed as next door neighbors so I made the unpardonable mistake of assuming they were father and son. I have since learned that Jr/Sr did not mean father and son. There fore I have to find James real father. I am now thinking that Sr was probably Jr's uncle. James George Sr. b abt 1785, 65 age 1850 Margaret b. abt 1796, 54 age 1850 John b. abt 1820, 30 age 1850 Margaret b. abt 1830, 20 age 1850 Mary b. abt 1834, 16 age 1850 Enos b. abt 1837, 13 age 1850 William b. abt 1839, 11 age 1850 Margaret George died 1 feb 1872, father Engles James George md Peggy Engle dec 19, 1817 The assumption can be made that James Sr's wife is Margaret Engle, but I'm rather leary about making assumptions, so am still looking for confirmation-such as burial plots with the death date of Margaret next to James with similiar birth year. I have found this family on LDS-ANF (names and dates are unverified by me) that could be the family of James Jr.: William C. GEORGE b. 1796 , VA; d. War Pensioner and according to his Last Pension Payment, the children above with the exception of Samuel, were mentioned . This is all that I have on the GEORGE family of Pendleton, Hardy/Grant counties. I am trying to piece together all of the George families that lived in the Pendleton, Hardy/Grant area since they probably all descended from Reuben GEORGE which I have not proved yet, but is probably my 5ggf . I have some references from E.L. Judy's book on History of Grant and Hardy county. I think they came in 1790 and very few were left by 1890, they went to IL or Kansas. My gggm married in Green county OH and returned to raise her family in WV, I've still not found where her family moved to. If you find a connection, I would love to hear from you, Elaine asemmett@tctwest.net Brady emmbp@uwyo.edu

Hi y'all: Do any of you have any GEORGEs from Switzerland? I would love to connect with any descendents of my Swiss GEORGE family. Family lore says they may have come from Greece, way back? Are there any Greek GEORGEs around, too? My ggmother was Sophie Henriette GEORGE, b. 1865, dau. of Jean Louis GEORGE, b. 1827 and Henriette Francoise MAYERT, and grandaughter of Francois Frederic GEORGE, b. 1786 and Marie Henriette RUBATTEL, b. 1790. Sophie came to the US in the early 1900s with her husband Edouard REYMOND and 5 or 6 children. They lived in CT for about 9-10 years before moving to Port Neuf, Quebec, Canada. Edouard was a horticulturist. Sophie's brother Jean Louis GEORGE, b. 1869, came to the US also around 1900 and family lore says he moved to Tampa, FL where he married (possibly a Marie ?). Supposedly they had no children, and Jean Louis and his wife both died in Tampa. Do any of these names, dates, locations ring bells with anyone on this list? If so, I'd truly love to hear from you. A lady from out of the blue wrote to inquire if anybody knew her relatives and I thought since they weren't mine, I might let somebody else answer. What she has is : Sarah GEORGE b abt 1810, IN-- perhaps Perry Co., m 1853 to Lewis D. WEBB. He mined for gold in CA. Name of her father given as Hugh George, no bd or place. She was quite a bit older than her hubby and she d8ied in 1889 Legget Valley, CA, long before she would have a death certificate. Researcher finds nothing in Perry Co., IN Sarah and Lewis Webb show 1860 census but not on 1880 or 1870, both in CA in the 1880s. No e-mail. I'll field whatever responses you give and send them along to her, and maybe she'll see the error of her ways in not doing computer. Barbara, Your George family is in the book "George Genealogy", by Keith George, but it doesn't list the parents of Samuel Sherburne. My wife is a Georgewith descendent from Newbury, Orange County, VT. I do her genealogy. I've researched The History of Newbury, VT, 1704-1902, by Wells, published by The Caldonian Co., St Johnsbury VT, 1902. There was no Philinda George or father, Moses listed. I do know however, that there were two George families one from Bradford and then my wife's. Her original George, John, 1675, came from England and his descendents through MA, NH and settled in Topsham VT circa 1800, with 15 children, had two more.
