Dear Janice: With regard to your ancestor, Sarah Jane Wallace in the WI marriage index...I have been haunted by why I could not find her husband! And finally, I got a bright idea to just search using the County (Dane) and the date of the marriage (20 Oct 1861). The search results were for eight individuals...a nice round number for four marriages, I thought. As I paired the eight people up into four couples and discovered that the sequence numbers in each case are 38 numbers apart (with the bride's number always the larger), I was left with Sarah Jane Wallace, sequence #06336 and James J. Heldridge, sequence #06298. The couples all married in Dane County on 20 Oct 1861 are: Salome Rickenbaugh #15884 & Henry Windler #15846 John F. Vincent #15374 & Mary Jane Jones #15412 Nancy Wallace #07533 & Alvin Jones #07495 Sarah Jane Wallace #06336 & James J. Heldridge #06298 The most interesting part of this, to me, is that I'd be willing to bet that Mary Jane Jones and Alvin Jones are siblings, and that Nancy Wallace and Sarah Jane Wallace are siblings, thus making it a double double wedding!!
