    1. [GenWisc] Neilitz, Pankau
    2. I am still seeking info on these families in Manitowoc area. Another family member has sent me copy of a "statement of death" from my husband's gramma Rosalia Neilitz. It shows her parents as Father: Peter NEILITZ, Mother: Anna PANKAU I have been assuming Neilitz to be German and Pankau, Polish........ can someone verify that? I have asked some of you to look up a Pankau family (under varied spellings) without success. That seems to tell me Peter and Anna were already married when they arrived in Wisconsin. Now then, I suppose I need to establish when they first show up on a census record in Wisconsin. Can someone help? Grandma Rosalia was born January 17, 1878 , unknown whether she had siblings. Peter and Anna's marriage would probably be within the 1870's. and I expect they came to the US soon after. Following that line of thinking, an 1880 census would hopefully show them. I understand the 1890 census is partially destoyed, but is there maybe a state census for that period? I do appreciate your help.
