start here http://www.scls.lib.wi.us/ click on the link entitled "Databases: Literature, Magazine, Newspaper, Business Investment, Health & Other" Scroll down to "Connect to WorldCat" BUT DO NOT CLICK ON IT. Instead click on "LinkCat" contained in the paragraph. Click on "How Do I Access LINKcat?" Scroll down to "From the Internet with LINKcat Web" and I click on http://linkcat.scls.lib.wi.us/linkcatweb, but you may need to click on another selection because of the type of connection you have, I don't know. In the gray box on the left click "Wisc. Newspapers" In the gray box on the left select the newspaper you want to check. I personally would check all of them. I have been surprised at what I have found in each paper because I didn't realize a death in Baraboo might also be reported in Reedsburg's or Madison's paper, too. When you find an article you can write to the city's library. The WI Historical Society has the WI Journal. I just called them and because I live in CA they want $15 to make these copies or I can ILL the microfilm for the same price. You might want to call them. They didn't seem very helpful to me. A bit abrupt in my opinion. Wisconsin Historical Society 816 State Street Madison Wisconsin 53706 608 264-6400 Susan in Northern CA
