Hi, I am cleaning (an never-ending project) in my office and found a copy of the following info that was published in Detroit Soc for Genealogists Research Magazine. It is page 66 but I don't know what issue or year. I have the DSGR index if someone wishes to find a copy of this issue. Begin:________ State Historical Society of Wisconsin at Madison Extracted by James L. Hansen, reference librarian 1807-1821 Vol 55 and 56 of the Grignon, Lawe, Porlier papers (Wis. Mss. B) in the Archives Division of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin contain more than 200 engagements from ca1805-1840, nearly all dealing with the trade and traders connected with Green Bay. The engagements themselves are from several sources and, although those drawn up at Green Bay predominate, there are also substantial numbers from Michilimackinac and Montreal. A number of Michilimackinac engagements, most of which were drawn by the notary Samuel Abbott, do not appear in the list of his engagements published in "Michigan Voyageurs from the Notary Book of Samuel Abbotr, Mackinac Island, 1807-1817, edited by Donna Valley Russell, (DSGS, 1982). These additional engagements are listed below. For the researcher who wishes to examine these records further, the Gringnon, Lawe, Porlier papers have been microfilmed and the microfilms are available for interlibrary loan from the State Historical Society of WI (not an update) Listed is the Date: Employer: Destination: Engagee: Page# Vol 56 I am listed the names only here. If you wish to know the other info please put "Mackinac Fur Trade" in the subject head - along with the name of person you wish the look up on. This material is copyright from the DSGS so am prohibited from putting all the data online. Vol 56 List of Engagees: Joseph Lamarueritte the engagements below are by Ts.
