If you find a date that doesn't seem right, check the volume number. The volumes are chronological. In Milwaukee County an 1863 date is in volume 1, and an 1899 date is volume 32. When I found an 1833 date listed in volume 16, I knew it was wrong, and yes, it turned out to be 1883. Ditto for 1800, listed as volume 32--obviously that should be 1900. So OK, the list isn't perfect--still, I have found some info that I missed when I was studying the microfilms in person. Blanche Schulz Chicago
