Dear List, I'm new to this list and am embarking on a search and find mission on behalf of my sister-in-law's husband, John Olbrantz. If anyone has any OLBRANTZ, OLBRANT,OLBRANTC or ALBRIGHT'S, or DYKAS's in their line, I would love to hear from you. Below is the information John has provided. Regards, Virginia Southas Seattle, WA Father:Walter J. Olbrantz Born Rhinelander, Wisconsin, November 24, 1907 Died Tacoma, Washington, August 12, 1961 Mother: Theresa C. (Hill) Olbrantz Born August 5, 1910, Seattle, Washington Died June 17, 1983,Bellingham, Washington Father's Siblings: Irene Olbrantz Born 1905, Somewhere in Wisconsin Died 1987, Seattle, Washington Isabel (Olbrantz) Barfield Born 1910, Somewhere in Wisconsin Died 1950, Vallejo, California Paternal Grandfather:John Olbrantz (AKA "Big John Olbrantz") Born 1879, Somewhere in Wisconsin, possilby Berlin, WI Died 1953, Bellingham, Washington Paternal Grandmother: Johanna (Dykas) Olbrantz Born 1879, Somewhere in Poland Died 1954, Tacoma, Washington Paternal Great Grandfather: Matthew Olbrantz Born ? Somewhere in Poland Died ? Somewhere in Wisconsin He may have been born in or near Warsaw, Poland. When he came to the US, he worked as a stone mason. I believe he and his wife had somewhere between 8-12 children. Some of the Olbrantz's changed their name to Albright, while others may have left it in it's original form, which I think is Olbrant or Olbrantc. Paternal Great Grandmother: No information, although she had 8-12 children, one of whom was my paternal grandfather, and worked as a homemaker. Maternal Great Grandfather: Johann Dykas Born ? Somewhere in Poland Died ? Somewhere in Wisconsin The story has it that he was a Roman Catholic priest, met my grandmother, fell in love, left the priesthood, married my grandmother, immigrated to the US, had 5 or 6 daughters, and worked as a carpenter until he died. There is suppose to be an old Polish Roman Catholic church in Stevens Point, Wisconsin that has an alter built by my paternal great grandfather, who was apparently quite a craftsman. Maternal Great Grandmother: Sophia Dykas Born ? Somewhere in Poland Died ? Bellingham, Washington After my great grandfather died, she moved to Bellingham, Washington to be close to my grandmother and great aunt, Francis, who lived in Milton, Washington, near Tacoma, when I was growing up. My father told me that she never learned English and passed away sometime in the 1920s. While my maternal great grandfather is buried somewhere in Wisconsin, my maternal great grandmother is buried in Bellingham.
