There was also a Gotleib Schmidt in the Oregon Death Index. If you want that record let me know. I did do a first name search for Gotleib and still nothing in marriages for anything close to Schmidt, there was only one marriage and the Surname started with a B. And I cannot get into my census images, for some reason for two days, or I would check that too, because 1870 is searchable, bummer.. Quite a few Germans moved from WI to Oregon and Washington state in the 1870�s and 1880�s. Found a lot at the cemeteries at Washougal and Camus, Washington and in Oregon.
