    3. Hello, I've noticed someone has been listing MY Ancestry on rootsweb.com. Sadly, they are NO relation to my Wells of Allegany Co., NY. & they are putting down a LOT of misinformation. Incorrect spelling, wrong dates, children who NEVER exixted & so much more. They have NOT researched any of my Wells for if they had, they wouldn't have so many mistakes. My Request? Can we all please refrain from enetering information on rootsweb we have not researched? Can we all just leave the Collateral families alone & let those who HAVE done the research enter the CORRECT info? We don't NEED all the misinformation becoming fact for some poor joe who believes everything they find on rootsweb. It's like those who take info from the LDS as Gospel. As genealogists we MUST be responsible for what we post. To the person or persons entering info on the Descendants of Peter Wells & Patience (Straight), please stop. They're NOT your family & you have too much misinformation. Thanks you Rosemarie

    3. I too appreciate what Heart's Desire wrote regarding sending in gedcoms and having wrong info of your family all over the internet. But, If we all waited until we have proved everything in our family files there would not be any use for WorldConnect or other on line resources. I always state that not everything in my file has been proven by me and to use my file as a stepping stone. By me putting my gencom on two different websites I have had family contact me that I did not even know I had. They have either added to my research or corrected something that I had wrong. I now have new cousins and have met one of them so if I had not put my gedcom on line I would still be looking for answers to one of my brick walls. Regards, Lorelee

I am in complete sympathy with you. If you are referring to Rootsweb's WorldConnect, you may want to take advantage of two ways of correcting the records: (1) You can post notes that correct the errors; and (2) you can contact the submitter. I've done both, and have been satisfied with the results. KQL
