    3. I did some work on the Holland's in the Delavan Circus' for the WSGS newsletter, which has not been printed yet. This was for Walworth County. What I found was from the following: Delavan, Wisconsin Circus Historical Souvenir Magazine of 1970 "Delavan, 19th Century Circus Capital" Compiled by W. Gordon Yadon & these excerpts are now submitted by Peggy Rockwell Gleich 1)BUCKLEY's NATIONAL Circus (1856-1857). Organized by Harry BUCKLEY, former Mabie performer and executive. Opened 1856 in Delavan. Buckley was owner, Oscar HYATT, manager; Walter WATERMAN, equestrian, director; Fred WILSON, clown; J. KINSLOW, band leader; H.B. NETTLETON, advance agent; John HOLLAND family of equestrians and leapers, Herr BEACH, strong man, Signor L. GERMINI, Italian juggler on horseback, HOLLAND & BEACH trapeze act; 2)HOLLAND-MOSHER Circus (1858). Organized by John HOLLAND in partnership with J.E. MOSHER. Featured the Holland family of equestrians, leapers and vaulters. Quartered on Holland's farm on prairie between Delavan and Elkhorn; 3)HOLLAND - MADDEN Circus (1860-1861). John HOLLAND & George MADDEN, prop. Married Mary HOLLAND, daughter of John and Honora HOLLAND. 4) HOLLAND - MCMAHON WORLD's Circus (1885-1886). Edward F. HOLLAND & Charles & John McMAHON, famous equestrians, owners. 1885. 5) HOLLAND - GORMELY ALLIED Circus (1888-1889). Everett & Frank GORMELY & Edward F. HOLLAND were all partners. 6) UNITED CIRCUS (1890). Wagon show owned by Edward F. HOLLAND, James R. McLAUGHLIN & Professor BOWMAN. Featured Leaper Sam BENNETT; Prof. BARTHOLOMEW, balloonist; HOLLAND family of riders; a human cannon ball act; clown brigade; Prof. HEALD's band and a small menagerie. 7) VAN AMBURGH CIRCUS (1891). James STURTEVANT, a Delavan grocer & Edward F. HOLLAND, owners. 8) PROF. BLACK'S WILD ANIMAL EXHIBITION (1892). Small menageries & trained pony act that joined the E.G. HOLLAND circus for the season., 9) E. G. HOLLAND & Co. RAILROAD Circus (1892-1894). E. G. HOLLAND & F. D. GORMELY co-owned last bonafide Delavan circus. (Used with permission of the author.) And the Walworth County Genealogical Society has many circus performer burials listed in the publications the society has for sale. We do many look-ups also.
