John F. McGrath, b. Ireland, 1826, emigrated to US 1842, lived in Vermont and NY state until 1848, then moved to Fond du Lac, where he married Mary Ann Burns. They moved to Eau Claire in 1858, where they raised their family. John was in the Engineers during the Civil War and later was town clerk and alderman in Eau Claire, where he died in 1908.
