Sharon, In Illinois in 1959 the legal age was 18 for both. You had to have a parent or guardian sign permission (affadavit) if under that age. My Dad signed mine 41 yrs ago. Hahaha maybe we'll make it!!! But you are right in your thought as several people I knew back then ran off to get married but they went to Indiana.
